With such good games on the arcade now (pacman ce!), I'm thinking about buying a new 360 when the price drops and / or an updated model comes out and using my old one in a "modern" arcade cabinet. Here's what I'm thinking: a 42 inch lcd or even a plasma (cheap one at a huge store for 999). You particle board around the tv, but since it doesn't have to be as deep with such a thin tv you just buy one of those entertainment centers where you can screw the television to a raised pedestal (like a metal bar with screw holes. There will be no wiring to do to the joystick if you get one custom made for the 360. Overall it will be VERY thin and sleek because the parts are fairly thin and small. You would just have to ventilate the cabinet that houses the 360, but that's easy enough. The cost breakdown is: entertainment center: $250, 360: $400, custom joystick: $300?, tv: 999, wood and supplies: 200+. Hmmm. now that I break down the costs it isn't as cheap as I would have liked. However I have a vision and I will make this happen very soon!

Sounds like a fun project. Good luck.

There's a guy on another forum I visit who does X360 to Jamma mods. That's all you'd need in addition to the cabinet. You could lower your build bill by about $400.00 and have a real cabinet with industry standard parts. Dynamo cabs are great starter kits too.

42" TV in an arcade game! I like your style, but that might be a little big to be that close :)

Post pics if you do this, sounds cool, just keep that thing ventilated. I would certainly wait for a updated 360 with the cooler chips for this too.

You might want to bump your budget by a few hundred since you'll need to install a window A/C unit in the cabinet to keep your 360 from red ringing on you.

:D
