Hi,

Since my Japanese Region 2 PS3 does not play PAL or other region DVD, I need other option.

Most if not all current upconvert DVD player plays Hoolywood NTSC film DVD fine. And I think some can also handle PAL movie ok too.

And I want a player which can also handle NTSC 2/2 pulldown for my many MTV discs in NTSC 30fps format.

And the cheaper the better! Oh also no chroma bug please! Thanks in advance! :p

I just checked a Pioneer DVR-550 (DVD recorder). It's the latest series with HDMI 1080p upscale. In the setting there are 4 modes for "progress scan", Auto1/2, Off and On. The "On" does correctly plays NTSC 2/2 30fps content, and there seems no more chroma bug artifact. Anyone know if the regular DVD player the DV-600 share the same MPEG2 decoder, deinterlace and scaling engine as the DVD recorder? Thanks in advance.
