This is taken from the HDGURU (HDGURU.com). I am posting it because I want potential buyers to be aware of these types of things. I am not posting this because I want to bash brand names and/or am biased toward certain brands. Finally, I am not trying to start a flame war and/or argument. I feel this is a very helpful article and am grateful to HDGURU.com for taking the time to research this sort of thing.

I saw this yesterday. Very interesting! Every store brand or off-brand doesn't look as good as it seems!

They have never looked that good. Maybe I'm a stickler for a great picture but I have yet to see an off brand set that would make me look away from a tier one brand, even if the savings were $700 or more. I would rather spend more to get a set that I can enjoy for years rather than saving money upfront and being disappointed in a few months.

Thanks! Nice read. I've a 30" Syntax (Olevia) that is over 2 yrs old. They sent me a replacement Mboard at 11month of warranty. No longer works with remote. Basically, if I didn't use if for the Gamecube, or for gaming nights with friends, it would be victim of dumpster.

This article is 18 mos. too late to affect my purchase, a Polaroid 37' LCD, we have in our bedroom. No problems so far, but if there are I'm screwed. Maybe the next time CC calls asking if I'm interested in an extended warranty I'll bite.
Still, the article did make me feel even better about my recent purchase of my Panny 58PX60U.

Panasonic Viera warranty in Canada rocks the socks off any other manufacturer.
We're really good to our out of warranty customers too ;)

Remember that VIZIO also will provide free on-year on-site service or repairs for the TVs 30" and above.
And VIZIO provides FREE LIFETIME tech support. Not a minor issue during the HDTV transition.

That's really cool; that's how it should be with everyone manufacturer.

If you read the article you would see that Vizio's "free on-site service or repairs" is anything but free.
