Is it true everything inside the box is covered for the first year only? Then after that. The next 2 years only cover the 3 red rings?

The next 2 years only cover the 3 red rings? Bingo. KoRn 07-30-07, 11:58 AM Damn it. I just bought a premium thinking the whole thing was covered for 3 years. The madness. I didnt buy an extended warranty when purchased. I guess I will have to buy the M$ plan. Can I buy it anytime within the year that the system is under full warranty? Kinda broke now after buying it. Bingo. Swift Mojo Hand 07-30-07, 12:43 PM I remember when I bought my 360 warrenty I had to mail it that day or it would have been to late. I cannot remember how long it was from the date of purchases, the paper that came with the console should tell you. I will say I am very glad that I did get the warranty because the video output on my Xbox 360 (not the 3 ring issue) just went out so I saved $140 in repair cost. I think they offer a payment plan. I also doubt that your warranty would be denied if you take the time to send in the paper, even if it is a little late.. rdank 07-30-07, 12:43 PM Damn it. I wouldn't worry about buying more protection. signmastr 07-30-07, 01:10 PM You can add the MS extended warranty anytime within the first year. Call 18004MYXBOX. Two years extra for $60, that covers everything the box, HD, controllers etc. Otherwise u are only covered if u get the dreaded 3 red lights of death... esaleris 07-30-07, 01:16 PM Often times, credit card companies will extend warranty programs for a certain amount of time on top of the existing manufacturer's warranty - get this, for free. Read your policy, as a lot of cards have this feature, but it is definetly not advertised. I know that certain AMEX cards have great customer service surrounding this, and will replace an item you bought from them, even if it was stolen or lost, within 90 days. I figured my Citibank could not be worse than what Microsoft is offering, and I am okay with sitting out on Xbox for a couple of weeks/months, if necessary. Not that I'm endorsing this... dpe8598 07-30-07, 04:28 PM Or, if you want to be dirty...if something else goes out on it...intentionally overheat the thing and cause it to give you the rrod. THEN send it in. Not that I'm endorsing this... This could backfire on you. In another thread, someone said that the CS person told them that they would fix any RROD problem for free for up to 3 yrs, but if there is anything else wrong, they will either send it back or charge you. As such, if you mess up your system, they might just fix the 3RROD, but you'll still have the original problem. |
