10/10 in OXM. Before anyone throws in the "it's an xbot mag, what'd you expect lol!" They've only given one other 10/10 before.
This game is sooooooo mine :D
Wow. So far so good.......I'll be anxious to see the IGN, Gamespot and Gamepro reviews. I dont know why but Ive still been unsure about how this game will actually play with all of the various tricks you can do. Im a little more partial to the run and gun, but with Halo coming out I suppose this will be a good change!
assasyn 07-30-07, 04:34 PM Has Game Informer reviewed it?
assasyn 07-30-07, 04:34 PM Anyone know if it has Multiplayer?
AstroTravellin 07-30-07, 04:47 PM no multiplayer.
TheWinstonWolf 07-30-07, 06:05 PM No multiplayer = no Problem!. I have enough games with multiplayer that isn't well fleshed out, and single player that feels incomplete. I'd rather them take their time with the single player, and make it excellent. That seems to be the case here.
I expect further reviews to give more of the same. Can't wait for this!
DaGamePimp 07-30-07, 06:31 PM My most wanted game of the year and it just gets better , can't wait :D !

No joke, like any of us will have time to play any MP game besides Halo 3. I know I won't, but I will make some time for a solid SP game.
jasonstiller 07-30-07, 06:38 PM I dont really play MP anyhow so this is right up my alley. I cant freakin wait!!!
AHDTVDiet 07-30-07, 06:54 PM I was very interested in this game to begin with, the great reviews confirm this will be a day one purchase for me. I cant wait. 2-3 weeks away until the first waves of the gaming storm will hit and it should be a huge precursor of what is to come.
jedimastergrant 07-30-07, 07:00 PM Yessss! I knew this game would rock hard ever since E306. I have mine preordered. It's gonna be good. Let the fall onslaught of games begin. Just too much to play especially if you own multiple consoles.
Also, the lead development platform was the 360 so there shouldn't be too many worries about getting the 360 version if your PC is not beefy enough.
I'll be getting it, but I'm really not a fan of creepy/dark/dungeon games :-/

This is my only concern, I too dont like "confined" games. Hopefully the levels are creative enough that it doesnt just feel like a dungeon crawler.
God, the next couple of weeks are going to seem like years. :(

i agree
Spiff69 07-30-07, 11:03 PM It will be so nice to delve into this story. The subject matter is really what fascinated me from the very beginning. I have been waiting and waiting and waiting and it's almost here.
I would really like them to succeed at putting the story and the moral creepiness front and center. There are some great sequels out there, but I really do thirst for original games.
This is the first game I'm going to buy new/day of since GOW was released. And if you don't like small/confined/dungeon/dark type games you aren't going to like this game. The whole point of the game is to give you that creepy water closing in on in an underwater city from the 1950's feeling. Look at the trailers, there isn't really a wide open space from any that I've seen.
It is the GOW of 2007. Bank it.
formulanerd 07-31-07, 01:17 AM meh, gears was cool and all, but only lasted 10 hours, was extremely linear and didnt have that great of a storyline.
i'm expecting the exact opposite from bioshock and i think it'll deliver.
i just wonder how the controls are.
because it seems you can do a lot of stuff in this game. maybe i will buy this 1 for the pc instead of xbox360.
saturnotaku 07-31-07, 06:10 AM I hope there's some kind of demo released. If not, this will be a rental at the very least to make sure I like the control scheme and gameplay. I'm worred about micromanagement a la an RTS or Japanese RPG; hopefully this one will be easy as pick-up-and-play.

True, but I can't pass up a highly rated game ;)
properbostonian 07-31-07, 08:28 AM For Irrational Games to allow the release of a game so far in advance for reviews is telling. Needless to say, the developers feel confident they have a winner.
On a side note, I hope this game sells well and firmly puts Irrational Games on the elite developer map. IG is based just outside of Boston in Quincy, MA. :)
newfmp3 07-31-07, 08:33 AM Now you guys got me excited for this and I wasn't even waiting for it until now.
Hmmmm, PC or 360 version....hmmmm.
AS for the GOW comparison? God I hope it is better then that over-hyped, way too short too linear game and repetitive with BAD AI and bad camera angles. I liked it, just wished I had rented it instead.

well based on the extended demos vids we've seen it suffers from none of that. Well game length we can't comment on exactly. But as far as bad AI(the game looks tough as nails) and band camera angles(it's all FPP) I see no problems. Plus a demo comes out soon.
jlatham 07-31-07, 09:33 AM It's out on august 21st, right?
newfmp3 07-31-07, 09:38 AM ARG, I go back to work on August 21st. Vacation ends on the 20th. Figures.
This game looks awesome and I've been eagerly awaiting its release. I hope it has a save-anywhere feature though. Some of the interviews I read suggested you have to find specific save points where you can save your progress.
I'm also praying that they've managed to achieve a steady 30 fps with v-sync enabled. I just can't tolerate excessive screen-tearing in my games.
Dahlsim 07-31-07, 11:23 AM Ahh, another game with a bit of freshness in the style. Nice.
you get the big daddy figurine with the gamestop edition
rahimlee54 07-31-07, 12:05 PM Glad I preordered mine at liongames, can't wait to play it. Around August 24 or 25 I'll be grabbing it from my mail box.

Ditto!
Tenkaipalm 07-31-07, 02:08 PM I don't know which version to get...
I wish the PC version was a live for windows title, just so I could get the achievements. To me, it would feel wrong to play a game billed as a "spiritual successor" to my favorite PC game of all time on a console, with a gamepad and lesser graphics. But Achievements and a Big Daddy figurine with the 360 version!!!!
Screw it, I'll just buy both.
lynesjc 07-31-07, 04:19 PM I'm suddenly getting excited for this game.

LOL me too.

lesser graphics on the 360? you really think an 8800GTS will run the DX10 bioshock on pc that well? i personally dont think so, and i'm not shelling out cash on the 800GTS to find out (my 7950GT OC SLI does just fine for me)
briankmonkey 07-31-07, 08:36 PM Sweet, this game is looking awesome. Love the atmosphere and art style. Should be done with The Darkness by the time this hits.

Well, the good news is that the 360 was the lead development platform so hopefully the 360 won't miss out on much. I would prefer to play with a m/kb myself, but the cost of upgrading my gpu every year is just crazy.
I have preordered the 360 version and I don't think I will miss out on too much graphically. You probably need an 8800GTX in order to crank everything up and be able to see a noticeable difference anyway.
I have great hopes for this game.
I still want to know how it gets rated by GameSport, EGM and 1UP, though.

Well, I have 2 OC 8800GTX's on water and a QX6700 on phase @ 4Ghz and -24c, So I think it'll run DX10 just fine.
I'm sure the 360 version will look great, but knowing that the PC version will look slightly better at possibly a higher framerate (I'd like to know if the 360 version is running at 30 or 60 FPS) will make me want that one instead. I'm hoping a demo releases for both versions.

Now I'm jealous. I would probably buy for PC as well with that setup.
Crysis is going to make your head explode on that rig! My 6800GT peed it's pants after just seeing a screenshot of Crysis :o
