I am going to be purchasing a Blue-Ray player soon but I need another terminal board on my TH-42PH9UK. Ive noticed that the HDMI board TY-FB8HM is only HDMI 1.1. How much of a difference in picture quality should I expect with this vs component?

Reason being is that the component terminal board is almost $50 cheaper than the HDMI board. Is HDMI worth the extra money? Or should I just go with another component connection?

First of all, you are not going to resolve full HD on the 9UK. I would recommend that you use HDMI if you use Blu-ray or HD-DVD. The picture appears to be much sharper over component or composite. You my recommendation is yes for the HDMI Video Board.

I've got both and the component is definitely better. The HDMI board doesn't support full-range RGB so you'll get a wider range of possible colours with YPbPr over component which results in less colour banding. However if you output YPbPr over HDMI then you'll be hard pressed to see a difference between the two if using a decent quality component cable. Save the $50, get the component board.
