Apparently the thread on these players was moved to the Dual Format forum because it was entitled "BP-UP5000," so I thought this thread was needed in this Forum.
Before it was moved, there were two questions asked by many.
1)Will they do dts HD MA? Although the mini spec sheet in the Samsung Press Release only states "dts HD," in the text of the PR it states "both players work w/lossless formats including dts HD and Dolby True HD.
I believe it has become common usage in this Forum to refer to dts HD as the core of dts HD MA. However, dts has never adopted this distinction. I believe the Samsungs will decode "lossless...dtsHD" MA.
2) Are they 1.1 players? Apparently not. Nor is the BP-UP5000. There is a post from arpboy in the BP-UP5000 thread at page 14 of the Dual Format forum, stating that a person who knows a knowledgeable source in Samsung Germany said that Samsung will not be releasing 1.1 players until 2008.
Also, from another thread on this forum, Panasonic has no plans to release a new Blu Ray player until next year.
As far as I know (pre-CEDIA), this leaves the Denon and Pioneer Elite replacement as the only two 1.1 players known to be released
