I have a Samsung 1080p7 upscaling DVD player. It is connected to my Philips TV via an HDMI cable and also to my Yamaha receiver via an optical cable.

I can go into settings and set the video output to 1080 and the audio output to bitstream and everything works as expected (picture, surround sound etc). However everytime i switch it off and then turn it back on the settings have reverted to default (720p and PCM audio so I dont get surround sound). Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?? It is a real pain to have to change all the settings everytime I want to watch a DVD.

I'd be interested as well since I just ordered one myself sight unseen. If you figure it out please post the results.

Otherwise how do you like it? Any other issues to be aware of?

Taken from the manual
After plugging in the player, the first time you press the DVD
POWER button, this screen comes up: If you want to select
a language, press a NUMBER button. (This screen will only
appear when you plug in the player for the first time.)
If the language for the startup screen is not set, the settings
may change whenever you turn the power on or off.
Therefore, make sure that you select the language you want
to use.
Try that and see if it solves the problem.

Thanks for the tip. It seems to have sorted itself out now, I'm not really sure how. I cant seem to recreate the problem. As for the player itself i'm pretty pleased with it (now that it seems to be working properly) - looks good, picture on my philips 32PFL7562D is crystal clear. Have only had it for a week so cant comment on any reliability issues yet
