deal of the day! I'm on it
Can you go to the local Bestbuy and buy it? I think you can...
Man, that was fast! Is this an online-only deal? A friend of mine was looking for the add-on and this would be a great price to get it at.

Sold out *online*.
So I jumped to the store.
Wouldn't say they had plenty but they had a few. $149 might be the new regular price.
(They were also re-stocking a boatload of Elites and cores--so much for the rumored deaths of those SKUs...)
Wasn't planning to buy into HD-DVd until BD was dead and buried (or vice-versa) but at this price I think of it as a DVD drive to spare the wear on the internal drive. Guess I'll by Kong-ing tonight instead of Morrowind-ing...

Can anyone confirm the price in store? I was planning on picking up the HD DVD drive tonight any way, and this sweetens the deal by quite a bit.

Wow, I just got a HD DVD drive for $147.48 (134.99 pre tax) at Best Buy this afternoon. Price match to online, plus a 10% coupon. The coupon said that it wasn't for "Game Assessories", but I just stated that it was just a HD DVD player. Then because in back the drive was still listed at 199.99, I just happened to ask what it rang up as, knowing full well that it would come up as $179.99. Then I just acted bewildered and showed him the printout of the BB page earlier today showing $149.99 and he just did a price match and BOOM, cheep drive. He apparently wasn't even aware of the price drop on the thing and how much it was, so I guess I was just lucky. YMMV....
