Here is food for thought. My xbox just red ringed on me and I just read about how the ps3 might become some form of a dvr. The question I have is that with the great build quailty of the 360 would you be willing to have it run constantly if they release IPTV for it. I think I would be afraid to do that because it would decline the life span of my 360, and plus any day it could die on you. Just wouldn't trust my 360 to be able to handle being on that long.

Everybody has their comfort level and everybody makes their choices.
If you're afraid of the 360, then you're afraid; nothing to be said or done.
But I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a NorthAm PS3 HDTV tuner add-on.
(I'm not very good at waiting, period.)
The only thing that has been rumored is a Euro-spec DTV tuner for over the air SD.
Hardly comparable to ATSC or even IPTV.
Sony just doesn't have the industry links need to make that happen any time soon. They haven't been able to get downloadable movies or TV shows and that's a lot easier to do...

No point in worrying about it dying.. I have no problem just having it on.. If it breaks then I'll send it in for repair..
I don't know about the 360 but the PS3 can have an extra HD and people have hooked up a 500gig HD.

It wouldn't have to be on all the time. It would only have to wake up just before it does a recording, and go back to sleep immediately after.
This is the way my Media Center PC works. Works great, too.

Im not saying this is possible but it could even be better in that it just goes into that low power mode it uses when downloading content when its not actively on and then it wouldnt even have to spin up to record. Again I dont know if its going to happen but I would think its possible.
