Newly shipped elites now feature 2 heat sinks, one for the CPU and one for the GPU.

Is the noise level changed with this new model?

I might pick one up if it was quiet and reliable.

Are the CPU and GPU still attached to the board with epoxy, to stop them from popping out?

I thought this second heat sink has been out for a while now?

No, this would not effect the fan noise or drive noise.

that sh*tty site doesnt show anything, what do they mean "second heatsink" hell the originals had 2 heatsinks, and the refurbs added a third connected by a heat pipe

I think is the ones that have a manuf. date of june or later. and If you look closely and better with a flashlight you'll see the added heatsink close to the right grill.

My 2nd (first one died) Elite was build in June 26 and it has the added heat sink.

Is there any way to tell on the box? My 360 is crapping out. It'll freeze a few minutes into playing any game.

I'm going to exchange it at Costco, but I want to make sure I can get one of the new ones.

The boxes have a flap where you can flop it open and it shows the build date and serial number. Check it out!

Last I heard the new chips are coming out when H3 ships. Though this was from a friend that works at EB so take it for what it is worth.

This might not be possible at Costco due to the blisterpack combos that they sell. If they opened the flap prior to packing then it would work.

I have to say, I was hopeful in getting the new heatsink on my new (refurbished) unit i just got back for repairs but mine does not have it. So they are still not adding it to all of them. :(

This isn't old news. These heat sinks have been showing up in fixed consoles from MS for a while.

The NEWS is that the heat sinks are also showing up in brand new 360s that are on shelves in stores right now.
