But when will they be out in HD?

There's a rumor going around that both parts are coming to high definition on the Blu-ray forum, from someone who spoke to Weinstein representatives at ComicCon in San Diego recently. It's unsubstantiated, and there's been no official announcement, so take it with however large a grain of salt as you'd like.

There are photos of red cases and black cases from ComicCon....neither of which are Blu-ray discs or HD DVDs. There's the traditional two-disc DVD packaging and a Best Buy exclusive steelbook case.

As an apparent rule, The Weinstein Company doesn't release movies day-and-date in high-def. I think we'll see Death Proof and/or Planet Terror (maybe not both, but at least one) before the year's out. Their window is usually 2 or 3 months, off the top of my head. They still haven't announced titles like Arthur and the Invisibles and Bobby still haven't been announced for HD DVD or Blu-ray, so I wonder if they're being pickier about what they put out in high-def these days.

Maybe they will release 1 film on each format to annoy people, or to push people format neutral ;)

Shrek 3 was just announced for DVD . . .and no HDM info was given . . TBA. Today, Weinstein is an HD DVD exclusive. Until we have an official announcement - can we please stop the with rumors.
