I've got a Magnavox MRV700VR that just died on me. We were watching TV and it just shut off by itself. It wouldn't turn back on - I've unplugged it, I've opened it up and looked inside - nothing seems broken or damaged. It just... gave up! Hah.
Anyway, I don't want to junk the entire thing. I feel that the DVD and VCR components would still work well if not for what has possibly turned out to be a damaged mainboard.
So what I'd like to do is salvage the DVD & VCR parts and build my own device. I just don't know where to look for a mainboard for something like this. I've built computers before, so I've got experience tinkering with electronics, but I've never delved into the field of custom home entertainment building.
So, has anyone built their own piece from salvagable parts of older devices? And where can I look to pick up a mainboard for these devices? What else do I need to look for?
Thanks so much!
