I'd go with the Sony

Amen to that. I still think the Samsung DLP and Sony SXRD's, assuming you have the room, are the best TV's for your money! Ive got the KDS-50A2000 and if I was buying a TV all over again today (bought it about a year ago), I wouldnt hesitate to make the exact same choice.

I'm sure everyone will say Sony.. Got the right environment for a front projector? You could say mucho money..

Sammy and Sony sets are both great, Sammy will take 1080p over VGA if that matters to you.

If you are open to others I really like the new Samsung Plasma sets.

Read the Pioneer threads. 0 burn in. Even my 7th gen has shown the slightest of image retention. Those fears, like the boogie monster, need to be put away at some point!

Yeah, if you're bored, go with the projector route. Make it happen.

If you have the room, the 61" Samsung is very, very good. I have the 6187w hooked up to my 360/HD-DVD player and it is incredible!

Actually if you have the room and decent light control then go FP , those wimpy 50" - 60" sets will not compare to gaming on a true BIG screen ;) .

But if I had to pick an HD set from your list then I would probably have to go with the SXRD .

Sammy will also take 1080p over component unlike the Sony....

I use a 120 inch screen (10 feet diagonal) paired with a High def projector.... I haven't seen any plasma//lcd beat the bright punchy picture I have with this setup. The size is nice too! :D

If you can make your room work with a proj. then that is definently the best route. I got the setup for cheaper than 42 inch lcds were going for last yr.

Except that its still B.S....plasmas, like CRT's, can burn in...its inherent to their technology. Just because yours hasn't, doesn't mean someone else's won't.

DLP is the only technology that wont burn-in. LCD's are a second place, you really gotta work to age those LCD panels. But Plasmas and CRT rear projectors (because of how much light they throw out) do suffer and can be ruined by burn-in if you aren't careful.

I've seen plenty of plasmas with ticker-tape burn in from CNN and other news channels.

i am a fan of FP i have one and despite what you think contrast is the single most important feature to a good picture and a plasma will beat any projector hands down at contrast.

play gears of war on a plasma and go to any FP while it may still look great I would hedge my bets on a plasma looking better.

again not really ripping ya i game on a HD projector at 110" but lets be realistic that the plasma is the better picture technology where you cannont project black onto a screen.

yep. You might even check your LCD computer monitor before the desktop loads. on a PC the task bar is slightly visible. On a mac, the bar at top is there. Obviously, nothing you watch on TV will be as stationary as those items, unless you are watching MASSIVE sport channels!

Samsung 61" DLP Rear Projection HDTV HL-T6187S

Halo3 is 720p, so your 1080p set is gonna have to scale it....or rather, the 360 will.

Definitely take a look at FP. Once you go FP you never go back. Nothing else can compete in terms of OVERALL enjoyment.

Actually LCD's do indeed burn in. I have hundreds of lcd's at work to prove it. From all makes. We do replace our lcd's over time because the windows log on screen is burnt into them. It'll take a long time, much much much longer then a plasma but they do over time.
