I recently changed DVD players since my Sony ns75 died. I bought a PIO dv-400V and when I hooked it up, I didn't get a picture out of the hdmi port. I then tried the cable from my STB and it worked. I then took the cable that didn't work in the DVD player and put in the STB, and that worked. I switched them back and forth a few times with the same results.
Anyone have an idea why this happened?

Sounds like a "handshake" problem with the DVD player and the set.

OK, but let me ask you if this makes sense. I didn't want to reset the universal remote inputs for TV and DVD, so I switched the cables on the TV so the devices were still hooked up to the original inputs. It still all worked. It's like the DVD player didn't care for that HDMI cable, but the stb has no problem.
