Hi,
This past weekend I picked up a Pio DV-400v. After having to return the first one due to no video output via HDMI, the second one is working, but it only likes one of the two 25 ft monoprice HDMI cables I am using. I have one run going to my STB and the other for the DVD (this was done before switchers were available for $30).
Anyway, at first I was getting all kinds of distortion and jumpy video from the one cable, so I took the cable from the STB and plugged it in. I got a perfect picture. I figured I would be spending this weekend fishing another 25 ft run through the wall. After ordering another cable, last night I decided to try again since I wasn't exactly looking forward to the job ahead of me, even though I have a large conduit to work with (things still get hung up in the corners).
This time I got no video out of the HDMI cable on input 1, and perfect video on input 2. I then took the input one cable and plugged it into my STB and I got a perfect picture. I then thought I had a bad input card in my Panny 7UY. To check this, I switched the cables on the TV. Everything still worked fine (and I don't have to change the inputs on my remote).
It seems like the DVD player only likes the one cable and not the other since it isn't the TV (the one cable works on both inputs).
I even changed the cables back after I changed the inputs and I got the same problem.
If it helps, the HDMI indivcator light was not lit when the cable gave no video, so maybe it is a handshake problem as someone already suggested.
Any ideas why my STB works with both and the DVD with just one?
