Now, after all the twists and turns in the 'Lost' Blu-ray saga, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has finally confirmed that the third season of the hit series will indeed debut day-and-date on DVD and Blu-ray December 11 in a deluxe box set dubbed 'The Unexplored Experience.'

Though final specs have not yet been released, look for a six-disc set sporting all 23 third-season episodes in full 1080p and uncompressed PCM 5.1 surround.

Among the extras will be audio commentaries with cast and crew (on select episodes TBA), five making-of featurettes, deleted scenes and bloopers.

Disney has set a $124.99 list price for the set.

IMHO the show dragged during the middle of Season 3, but by the end of the season it was awesome again.

I'll be all over this in December regardless, but I'd like to see some new extras...stuff that isn't going to be available on the standard release.

I think the new season starts in February, which is about year since the last season ended. Maybe this would be worth picking up for a refresher before the new season starts...

This is great news, but the price is a bit higher than I would have preferred. I'm hoping I can get it for ~$65 from Amazon. This show already looks amazing at 720p...I can't imagine how good it will look in 1080p!

I already have my LOST season 3 viewing schedule worked out to watch the entire season with friends before season 4 debut.

125 bucks for perhaps the worst season on TV (except for last 5 minutes of finale) that is insane, what is Disney thinking? Should be regular box set price for TV shows 49-59 dollar mark max. Some of these box sets for both sides are getting ridiculous.

Opinions vary, and while it got off to a rocky start, Season 3 was very awesome towards the end. Hopefully with 16 episodes seasons until the end three years from now, we'll have no filler.

I pre-ordered from Amazon yesterday, so I'm happy to see it finally confirmed today.

I want more Lost and Smallville and how about "Band of Brothers" on Blu......

the worst season? most of it was better than much of season 2.
price is a little much though.
and where are season 1 and 2? 1 being the only one i dont alrady have in at least 720p.
anyway, glad though they are releasing it.

Season 3, viewed as a whole (I have all 22 episodes on DVR), and without that 3 month break in between the first 6 and the last 16 episodes, the season works a lot better. I hated the first six at first during the break, but going back, especially after the season was done, there are a lot of things that come to light that weren't obvious because of the break.

Now I hope we get Season 1 and 2 sometime soon. It would be lame if we had to wait more than a year for them on BD.

As a rabid Lost fan ( I make no bones about it ), I'll pay it, but pricing it so high is going to take away it's killer app status among those who aren't into HDM or BD. Some people were saying this would get them into HDM or into BD if they are HD-DVD exclusive, but a lot of them are complaining about the price.

While I understand your feelings, my guess is that if too many people don't buy Season 3 on BD (i.e. if sales of the BD version are not appreciable) then we probably won't see Seasons 1 and 2 any time soon. That's why I'm buying Season 3 now. Enough demand for Season 3 shows the studio that there is likely demand for the other 2 seasons on BD and makes it a more attractive product.

I may just use the $99 credit I have at DVD Planet for this.

Right, the decision will be mostly based on sales of S3. If you want S1 (like I do) , you'd increase the chances of it being released by buying S3.

If you've never seen the first two (or 3) seasons, why not just rent the DVD's? Or buy them and resell them.

Two things I hate about this being a Lost fan.
1. A winter release date.
2. A whopper srp sticker.
3. Get s1 and s2 out now since s3 release is so far off. if s1 was out in say, july, s2 around september the winter release of s3 would be perfect for the holidays. and since no one likes to buy just 1 season, those that didnt pick up s1 and s2 during the summer could do so when s3 came out.

of course im not in marketing, but as a consumer that would have been ideal for me.

No way am I paying that much for this on BD. Not even at Amazon pricing with my 10% off. I already have the SD versions of season 1 and 2. Unless they rethink srp, I'm just gonna buy the SD box set of season 3 and be happy with upconversion.

The funny thing about Star Trek and it's 35 years OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and have been REPAID 10000000000000x time already...

I'am getting the BD version on Amazon, because the macroblock filled dvd just don't do it for me..

If I cant find it 60-70 bucks I willl just get the DVD, Love the show but since it doesnt have as much replay value I dont see myself spending a 100 bucks on it.

Wouldn't it stand to reason they should be around $65-$69 like Heroes? Even $89-$99 is pretty steep. I wouldn't mind getting it, but not at that price. Nice on the PCM audio too.
