View Full Version : Disney Confirms 'Lost: Season 3' Blu-ray Release TriptonUpman 08-02-07, 03:40 PM http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/Disney/TV_on_High-Def/Disc_Announcements/Disney_Confirms_Lost:_Season_3__Blu-ray_Release/834 sweet! Jiffylush 08-02-07, 03:46 PM Now, after all the twists and turns in the 'Lost' Blu-ray saga, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has finally confirmed that the third season of the hit series will indeed debut day-and-date on DVD and Blu-ray December 11 in a deluxe box set dubbed 'The Unexplored Experience.' Though final specs have not yet been released, look for a six-disc set sporting all 23 third-season episodes in full 1080p and uncompressed PCM 5.1 surround. Among the extras will be audio commentaries with cast and crew (on select episodes TBA), five making-of featurettes, deleted scenes and bloopers. Disney has set a $124.99 list price for the set. $86.95 from Amazon --> http://www.amazon.com/Lost-Complete-Third-Season-Blu-ray/dp/B000TFINY6/ IMHO the show dragged during the middle of Season 3, but by the end of the season it was awesome again. JJ79 08-02-07, 03:51 PM I'll be all over this in December regardless, but I'd like to see some new extras...stuff that isn't going to be available on the standard release. TriptonUpman 08-02-07, 03:52 PM i just want that lossless sound baby Jiffylush 08-02-07, 03:56 PM I think the new season starts in February, which is about year since the last season ended. Maybe this would be worth picking up for a refresher before the new season starts... Well, at least as a rental anyway. I might pick it up just to watch the finale again. vpn75 08-02-07, 04:07 PM This is great news, but the price is a bit higher than I would have preferred. I'm hoping I can get it for ~$65 from Amazon. This show already looks amazing at 720p...I can't imagine how good it will look in 1080p! Jedi2016 08-02-07, 07:19 PM Okay... NOW I'm a believer. dildatonr 08-02-07, 07:45 PM I already have my LOST season 3 viewing schedule worked out to watch the entire season with friends before season 4 debut. None of them have seen Lost in HD yet. Let alone on BR. Let alone on BR with lossless surround sound. I'm stocking up on adult diapers before then because... They will crap themselves. GoCheese 08-02-07, 07:57 PM 125 bucks for perhaps the worst season on TV (except for last 5 minutes of finale) that is insane, what is Disney thinking? Should be regular box set price for TV shows 49-59 dollar mark max. Some of these box sets for both sides are getting ridiculous. Opinions vary, and while it got off to a rocky start, Season 3 was very awesome towards the end. Hopefully with 16 episodes seasons until the end three years from now, we'll have no filler. I pre-ordered from Amazon yesterday, so I'm happy to see it finally confirmed today. Garman 08-02-07, 09:20 PM I want more Lost and Smallville and how about "Band of Brothers" on Blu...... Mel2 08-02-07, 09:54 PM only the first six episodes were average. the rest of the season, after the break, was some of the best tv ever. that's why there are more "Lost" fan sites than any other. Lost and 24 are the finest shows on. and they're both blu exclusive. stumlad 08-03-07, 02:36 AM only the first six episodes were average. the rest of the season, after the break, was some of the best tv ever. that's why there are more "Lost" fan sites than any other. I dont understand why Lost is so expensive on Blu-ray. 39 pre-order on Amazon for DVD, 87 bucks for Blu-Ray... ??? skibum5000 08-03-07, 02:39 AM 125 bucks for perhaps the worst season on TV (except for last 5 minutes of finale) that is insane, what is Disney thinking? Should be regular box set price for TV shows 49-59 dollar mark max. Some of these box sets for both sides are getting ridiculous. the worst season? most of it was better than much of season 2. price is a little much though. and where are season 1 and 2? 1 being the only one i dont alrady have in at least 720p. anyway, glad though they are releasing it. carnivale880 08-03-07, 02:43 AM Season three was the best yet for me, then season one and finally two...what people seem to forget is the reason the second half of the season worked so well was because of the time spent developing the others in the first batch of episodes...worth every penny for me as this is the reason i got into blu-ray...i have been awaiting this announcement since i bought my PS3 and got my pre-order in the day they listed it at amazon...december cant get here quick enough!! Go out and buy this so disney will see fit to catch us up with seasons 1 and 2...all the beach scenes in season1 would be perfect high def demo material and the best part is the endless replay value. Fox is on vacation. probably st.croix or the virgin islands. :D -=Kamikaze=- 08-03-07, 03:22 AM What about the first two seasons? What is the point of owning only one of three seasons? Matt_Stevens 08-03-07, 09:41 AM Yes, exactly. Seasons 1 & 2 should also be released. JosephShaw 08-03-07, 12:08 PM Season three was the best yet for me, then season one and finally two...what people seem to forget is the reason the second half of the season worked so well was because of the time spent developing the others in the first batch of episodes...worth every penny for me as this is the reason i got into blu-ray...i have been awaiting this announcement since i bought my PS3 and got my pre-order in the day they listed it at amazon...december cant get here quick enough!! Season 3, viewed as a whole (I have all 22 episodes on DVR), and without that 3 month break in between the first 6 and the last 16 episodes, the season works a lot better. I hated the first six at first during the break, but going back, especially after the season was done, there are a lot of things that come to light that weren't obvious because of the break. Now I hope we get Season 1 and 2 sometime soon. It would be lame if we had to wait more than a year for them on BD. puddy77 08-30-07, 08:40 AM The Man Room has posted some specs: Buena Vista Home Entertainment has unearthed the full disc specs for 'Lost Season 3: The Unexplored Experience' on Blu-ray Disc, the first television series released in high definition by the studio. It will arrive in stores on December 11 in a six-disc set with an SRP of $124.99, day-and-date with the $65 less and seven-disc standard DVD edition debut. 'Lost: Season Three' Technical specs are what we've come to expect from Buena Vista Blu-ray Discs with 1080p widescreen 1.78:1 video and 5.1 16-bit uncompressed PCM audio for all 23 episodes... For the rest: http://dvd.themanroom.com/dvd-newsview.php?id=694 Adam_ME 08-30-07, 08:45 AM 125 bucks list price is obscene. I don't care which show it is. I'll pay 60 bucks and change like I'm doing with Heroes Season 1, but that's it. dildatonr 08-30-07, 08:57 AM Well I can't bitch yet about not getting season 1 or 2. I just want 3 so I can refresh before 4 starts. But I NEED 1 and 2 by the series end so I can start watching the entire thing from start to finish again. JosephShaw 08-30-07, 08:59 AM 125 bucks list price is obscene. I don't care which show it is. I'll pay 60 bucks and change like I'm doing with Heroes Season 1, but that's it. As a rabid Lost fan ( I make no bones about it ), I'll pay it, but pricing it so high is going to take away it's killer app status among those who aren't into HDM or BD. Some people were saying this would get them into HDM or into BD if they are HD-DVD exclusive, but a lot of them are complaining about the price. price3 08-30-07, 09:02 AM This is one series I will buy on BD, but I will not buy season 3 until I have 1 and 2. pulserate 08-30-07, 09:09 AM This is one series I will buy on BD, but I will not buy season 3 until I have 1 and 2. Yup. I'd pay that Amazon price for each of the three seasons -- now they just need to get gracking and release them. JosephShaw 08-30-07, 09:39 AM This is one series I will buy on BD, but I will not buy season 3 until I have 1 and 2. While I understand your feelings, my guess is that if too many people don't buy Season 3 on BD (i.e. if sales of the BD version are not appreciable) then we probably won't see Seasons 1 and 2 any time soon. That's why I'm buying Season 3 now. Enough demand for Season 3 shows the studio that there is likely demand for the other 2 seasons on BD and makes it a more attractive product. Matt_Stevens 08-30-07, 11:37 AM I may just use the $99 credit I have at DVD Planet for this. camaj 08-30-07, 10:16 PM While I understand your feelings, my guess is that if too many people don't buy Season 3 on BD (i.e. if sales of the BD version are not appreciable) then we probably won't see Seasons 1 and 2 any time soon. Right, the decision will be mostly based on sales of S3. If you want S1 (like I do) , you'd increase the chances of it being released by buying S3. If you've never seen the first two (or 3) seasons, why not just rent the DVD's? Or buy them and resell them. maingon 08-31-07, 01:13 PM "Retail price for the box set is a suggested $124.98". !!! Even for 99.99 I would pass on it, Hopefully amazon will have it for 65 bucks pdp7 08-31-07, 01:45 PM Two things I hate about this being a Lost fan. 1. A winter release date. 2. A whopper srp sticker. 3. Get s1 and s2 out now since s3 release is so far off. if s1 was out in say, july, s2 around september the winter release of s3 would be perfect for the holidays. and since no one likes to buy just 1 season, those that didnt pick up s1 and s2 during the summer could do so when s3 came out. of course im not in marketing, but as a consumer that would have been ideal for me. vpn75 08-31-07, 01:57 PM "Retail price for the box set is a suggested $124.98". !!! Even for 99.99 I would pass on it, Hopefully amazon will have it for 65 bucks Agreed! I won't pay more than $65 for this box set. TommyV 08-31-07, 02:05 PM OMG! Must . . . resist. . buying Blu Ray This is going to be one hell of an expensive box set for me since I have to buy a player as well! Damn you Disney! krik 09-02-07, 09:09 PM Pure Disney greed. Where do they get off? Not as bad as Paramount's Star Trek TOS Season 1 on HD-DVD but close. (Yes, I'm dual format). No way am I paying that much for this on BD. Not even at Amazon pricing with my 10% off. I already have the SD versions of season 1 and 2. Unless they rethink srp, I'm just gonna buy the SD box set of season 3 and be happy with upconversion. ryoohki 09-03-07, 10:11 AM Pure Disney greed. Where do they get off? The funny thing about Star Trek and it's 35 years OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and have been REPAID 10000000000000x time already... I'am getting the BD version on Amazon, because the macroblock filled dvd just don't do it for me.. maingon 09-03-07, 10:39 AM If I cant find it 60-70 bucks I willl just get the DVD, Love the show but since it doesnt have as much replay value I dont see myself spending a 100 bucks on it. metalsaber 09-03-07, 11:26 AM Wouldn't it stand to reason they should be around $65-$69 like Heroes? Even $89-$99 is pretty steep. I wouldn't mind getting it, but not at that price. Nice on the PCM audio too. |
