Probably not. I've got Outlandos D’Amour, and it is two-channel only. I don't think they ever did a surround mix of the early Police stuff. If they did, I'd definitely want it!

Nope, all the old stuff is 2-channel.

The only way to hear studio renditions of older tracks in 5.1 SACD is to pick up a copy of Every Breath You Take: The Classics. The individual studio albums are in two channel only, unfortunately.

He must have meant all the Police "old stuff" is in 2-channel. There is plenty of other "old stuff" in surround, including Elton John, Grateful Dead, Clapton, etc.

Believe me, I wish they were in multichannel. But alas, they are not, and I never bought them. But I do have the Police greatest hits SACD in surround, and that's something at least.

Releasing a legacy title in surround is a bit more costly and time consuming than only doing a 2 channel SACD release. Peter Gabriel (and the Stones) also released his back catalog in 2 channel SACD. I think both the Police and Peter Gabriel would have benefited from releasing hybrid disks with surround mixes in the US. Instead we got 2 channel SACD only in the US. Pity...

Ah but Peter Gabriel's Up was released in hi rez multi-channel and it is absolutely amazing in my opinion. In my top 5 surround list for sure.

Agreed - Up is great, especially in surround. But I can just imagine how PG's "Melt" or "Security" would sound given a similar treatment. Also, I think Synchronicity and Ghost In The Machine would be taken to the next level if presented in 5.1. :-)
