All,

These DISH Network receiver related topics appear to be quiet at the moment. Searching threads didn't help, however someone here must have heard something recently. Please share the news if you've heard something.

I've read that the network port on the Vip622 will be enabled in mid-Augast but I'm unaware of what the total scope of this enabling will be other than as a means for the receiver to call home to the Dish Network mother ship with usage statics.

Anyone heard any other uses for enabling the NIC port on the Vip series receivers?

Will it be enabled across the board on all Vip receivers Vip622, Vip222 and Vip211?

DISHCOMM power line carrier support, has anyone heard any updates on this feature? I've a Vip222 that I'd like to use the DISHCOMM feature on to use our Vip622s modem, we've only one phone line connected to a receiver and it's on the 622.

Vip - video over IP, has anyone heard any new rumors on this feature?

Regards, John

You'd get better answers on dbstalk. However, I heard nothing about the network port being enabled for mid-Aug. For mid-Aug, the Voom channels are switching to MPEG4, Dish is adding a few new HD channels and they are enabling archival of previously recorded DVR content via the USB port.

DishComm? It's powerline networking. However, most power strips, UPS's and surge protectors interfere with its use. As a result, I'm not sure how useful it is to you.

DISHCOMM would be very useful if Dish would enable it on the Vip222. The DISHCOMM "remote modem" feature isn't currently selectable on the 222.

I'm running X10 powerline throughout the house today even across phases, not a problem. The problem is Dish, making promises upon release and then dragging their feet for months and years.

Hadn't heard about archival through USB until now, will it be in the clear? Once the contecnt is offloaded to external drive can I move that drive to another network enabled player such as an HTPC? That would be cool.

I would like to be able to push the play button on our 222 or 211 and play/stream the content off the 622s hard drive...that was what I thought the Vip series was all about.
