Hi all, I purchased DVE a few months back and I've gone through the test patterns a few times but Im still kinda confused.

When going thru the calibration, the DVD keeps refering to CRT televisions, something like "We're going to set black level for your NTSC standard CRT televisions, if you have a HDTV we will cover the brightness later" yet I dont see that they ever cover brightness, color, tint, etc... specifically for HDTV later on in the DVD. Am I missing something? Im setting my TV using the calibration, but when Im done...the only thing that is changed from factory presets are contrast being at 100 vs 80. Color is the same, tint is the same, and sharpness doesnt do a damn thing from 0 to 100. Am I missing out on something or do I just need to wait for a bluray version (dont see why that would help) of avia or DVE?

Sharpness is probably the hardest setting to see on a flat panel TV. If you look closely, you can get an improved adjustment. There is a brightness test. It does not matter if it is HDTV or not, just set it to the tests. Same thing on color and tint. If you got the same settings as the factory default, that does not mean they are wrong. If you keep getting the same results, they are probably the best settings. Does your picture look good? Are the skin tones on HD stations accurate?

I have used DVE, but I prefer the Avia disk for ease of use. I get essentially the same readings with both.
