I just purchased this the 42 inch 72U model TV and I don't see any banding. Although I notice on some channels especially some SD it sort of looks like I am looking through a bottle. Hard to explain...for example on the space channel when people nod or move their heads it blurs like frames are trying to catch up or something like a tracer. Anyone know what I am talking about? It's a motion issue for sure. Is this an issue with the TV or the channels? And if it's the channels any good setting to minimize this?
It is like auto focus on a digital camera where is is having trouble and goes in and out, best way I can explain it lol.
Any help would be great.

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. Our 32" Sharp in the study did the same thing until I calibrated it with the Avia disc and user menu settings. I have NO IDEA which adjustment made that odd motion stuff stop, but the set just doesn't do it anymore since calibrating it that way. Before I used the Avia disc, I was trying to dial the settings in manually and I ended up with 1 group of settings that caused blur trails to follow everything that moved - BIG blur trails. It was freaky. Never saw anything like that before or since. I don't think there's anything magical about the Avia disc, you should be able to get the same results with any SetUp DVD.
Something else I learned... the backlight should be adjusted up and down as room lighting is changed. Up for bright room lighting, down for darker room lighting. But some backlights hum when you turn them down - kind of annoying. Our Sharp hums at any backlight setting below 12 (I think 16 is the highest/brightest setting).
