I'll try not to tick off you wily vets. But I've been trying to learn the basics for mounting a projector in the ceiling. From the mounts to running the wires through the many different types of ceiling without bringing down the whole house. I've been looking around, and am just overwhelmed at the wealth of info. Can someone point me in the right direction for some books, online manuals, perhaps a computer chip that can be installed in my brain? I'm particurally trying to learn about the running wires through the ceiling part.

For the wires run some conduit 2 inch or better, use the grey electrical kind (personal experience alert) use the wide sweeping elbows. As far as the ceiling mount you can buy one or DIY here’s a pic of mine. The search feature is real good on the forum it will help a lot. One other thing plan, plan, plan, measure, measure, measure, then cut.

Welcome to the forums Ilost. :)

Running wires isn't all too tough if the ceiling is still unfinished. If you could provide us with a bit more info about your specific project I'm sure some of the wily vets can and will help out. BTW, photos are worth a thousand words with this sort of thing. Show where you want to mount it and where the equipment is. You'll need more than 5 posts to be able to posts photos.

Takes 2 arms. 1 of them stronger than the other.

Step 1: hold projector in strong arm above your head and shove it into the ceiling.
Step 2: take less strong arm and screw 8" screws into projector and into ceiling.
Step 3: plug any hanging wires into nearest light socket while standing in a bucket of water.
