I recorded a movie in SP that turned out to be 63 minutes. If I would have been sure of the time I would have used XP.
If I copy it to a RAM at XP and then back to the HDD and then to a -R how will the picture be degraded, or will it. This instead of using FR in one move.
Will it be worse than putting it on half a disc at SP.
Actually, how much better is a HDD recording in XP than SP?
Let me know if I am missing something here and this is utter nonsense.
Thanks

My own experience, and notes by others, seem to indicate not much, if any, noticeable diff. in XP or SP for "normal" stuff. Maybe in some of the fastest moving sports, but I couldn't tell a diff. even then.

Dubbing to disc from SP to XP involves a re-encoding, so anything gained at XP could be lost in the re-encode.

I wouldn't even use FR. Better to go with the SP, which you should be able to dub at high-speed, so no further loss of any PQ.

What wabjxo said. Avoid the re-encode step just to get XP or FR. its not worth the losses going from SP as the starting point. Don't worry about not having a write-once disc more than half filled.
