Hello,

I purchased a NEC 50" Plasma TV some time ago. It appears it can take two component video inputs. The first input is standard 3-cable component video input and I have been using it without any problem. However, the second one is a bit confusing.

The image is attached.

In case this image does not appear, let me explain. The second input is called RGB2/DV2/HD2 type. It takes 5 input pins.
R or Cr/Pr
G or Y
B or Cb/Pb
HD
VD

I am guessing if I have to use it for component video, I would use the first three input pins. However, the pin type does not match the end of my component video cable. I am confused. Is there some kind of cable adapter I need?

Can someone please help me understand what is it that I am missing?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Upon further research, it appears I may need to buy three RCA to BNC Adapters. Radio shack has them for about $6.

The other option is to buy a RCA to BNC component video cable. However, even a 6" cable is about $80 :(.

Is what I have a "BNC" type connection?

Appreciate your help.

I'm not an expert on this, so I apologize if I get this wrong. The good thing, though, is that Radioshack will accept returns on opened parts. :)

You should be able to get the three BNC adapters and plug in a component signal. Just make sure to select component as the BNC input type (as specified in page 18 of that manual).

(The 5 BNCs connectors all together are for RGB input, where you would also use HD and VD, horizontal and vertical drive.)

That sounds like the inputs found on a lot of older high end CRT computer monitors. I've had a few of those over the years.

You could get 3 of these single BNC to RCA cables:
