When did this thing come out? There is very little information on the net about this. Seems like it will be mirrored with the 1940ci. I still don't understand why Denon puts out the exact same player with 2 different model numbers on it.

Yeah saw the 1940ci at Magnolia's two weeks ago also.
Denon in a press release dated July 24th:
"In addition to its Blu-ray Disc introductions, Denon is updating its advanced lineup of DVD players and changers with six additional models, including the DVD-1940CI (SRP: $349) and DVD-1740 (SRP: $169), as well as the new DVM-1845 (SRP: $269) 5-disc DVD changer. With the new additions, Denon's current line of DVD players now feature advanced HDMI output capability for the ultimate in audio and video performance. Three new models in the company's Retail Home Theater DVD lineup have also been added, including the DVD-758 (SRP: $349) and DVD-558 (SRP: $169) DVD players, as well as the new DVM-745 (SRP: $269) 5-disc changer."

Yea I own a Denon DVD-955S which is that same as the 2910. Seems pointless to call one advanced and one retail when they are exactly the same. I talked to a tech support guy at Denon about mine and he said he pulled every spec sheet he had on both players (mine and the 2910) and they used identical components. I am just disappointed that Denon has completely abandoned making any silver products.

I received the following from Denon on 1/28/2008 after asking what the difference was between DVD-758 and DVD-1940CI.

"They are both the same models. You can buy any one. They are different consumer based products. One goes to circuit city while the other to best buy. Good Luck!!"
