After returning a Samsung 4665 LCD due to bad HDMI issues a couple months ago, I am now ready to purchase again. I decided to look at the 5265 because I wanted a larger screen. I was pretty set on buying it until I noticed an unfamiliar Samsung next to it. Upon further inspection, I noticed that it was a 1080p plasma....for 1300 dollars cheaper!!! Then I found out that it (5084) comes with a two year warranty instead of one on the LCD. I really loved the Pioneer plasma next to it, but seven hundred bucks is seven hundred bucks, and I would probably be happy with the Sammy since the Pioneer wouldn't be right next to it in my bedroom. I guess that I am just getting confused as to which display to spend my hard earned cash on, as I will keep it for up to 5-6 years. So I guess my main question to all you knowledgeables would be "what would you spend your money on and why?'. I mainly watch movies with about 2 hrs of 360 play per day. Thanks guys, all input is appreciated. I hate going to the store a couple times a week and coming home empty handed because I can decide. :(

Consider the 5084. Plasma is the way to go for watching movies and sports. But only buy if your going to pick up a 1080p blu-ray player. Net Flix has enough in stock so you can rent them instead of buying.
I've own this TV for two weeks and I am very much impressed with it's ability to display movies and HDTV. The colors are rich and the blacks are deep without losing detail.

Anyone else?
I've had the 5084 for a month and I love it. No judder, awesome Blu-Ray, amazing HD, and tolerable SD. The colors are vibrant, the blacks are deep and detail is razor-sharp. I'll give you my picture settings if you go this route. It took me ALOT of time, but it makes a big difference to adjust to your viewing room. It will at least give you a place to start and tweak from there.
I really used to be a LCD guy, but this set has changed that. Trust me, if you game and/or watch sports and movies you CANNOT go wrong with this bad-boy.
PS3 is just spectacular(Ninja Gaiden Sigma & Resistance are jaw-dropping) and Blu-Ray is what this set was designed for.
Good Luck
I was about to make this very same thread. I cant decide which to buy. I use my HTPC a lot to play divx files and such that arent really that great in quality. They look pretty good on my 37 1080P westinghouse right now but when I move into my new apartment the westinghouse is going to be a computer monitor only. So which of these would be better for HTPC viewing? Ill be watching Hi-def content also. I also have a 360, Wii, and Ps3. Dont play many fast action games so that really isnt an issue with me. I really like the plasma cause I can get it for 2300. But I'll pay the extra few hundred dollars for the LCD if its worth it.
