Heres the deal--I am in the market to buy a new 65" DLP and I am more confused now than I ever been in the past buying TV's. I have narrowed it down to Mitsubishi, models WD-65831 ( 2006/07 model Diamond series, 1.1 HDMI) WD-65733 (New model w/ HDMI 1.3) or the new Diamond series WD-65833 (rs-232c port/firewire port/HDMI 1.3)

Least to say, there are to many damn options and it seems one technology is ahead of everything else (TV's versus processors, receivers, dvd players, satellite boxes etc.). If I have no plan to upgrade to Blu-ray or HD for at least another year when hopefully the technologies catch up and are able to produce all of these new features (deep color, 120hz refresh rate) does it matter which version of HDMI to go with???? Do the Blu-ray & HD discs/players even produce 120hz refresh rate ( or is that just how the WD-65833 refreshes it), deep color, 7.1 sound or is that going to happen in the future???? Will the rs-232c port on the new diamond series WD-65833 keep the TV up to date with any future upgrades or will this TV be obsolete within 6 months???? What is the benefit of having firewire ports on the TV????

If someone can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it---My mind is spinning!!!

From your concerns it appears you would not be happy without HDMI 1.3.

Couple quick comments:
*1.3 probably doesn't make much difference on TV; except that it may support "automatic" lip sync.
*Makes no difference for sound.
*120fps refresh rate is produced by the TV. However, I would prefer a TV that accepts 24fps from the Blu Ray or HD TV. The TV then "upconverts" that 24fps or normal 60fps to 120. This eliminates "judder" in the picture.
*No guarantee there will ever be a deep color source (except for some cameras). It's not in the Blu Ray or HD DVD standard and normal broadcasting doesn't have the bandwidth to support it.

All that being said, I would still get the current technology (1.3) if the difference in price isn't too much.
