Hi, a buddy is going to buy his first HD flat screen TV w/ input being HD Comcast and RD Comcast. (Direct TV is not availble due to obstructions) He's interested in the best image quality he can get within reason. They'll be sitting about about 12' - 14' feet away from the image (guestimate i'l measure the viewing distance next time I'm out there) w/ one viewer sitting off to the side. For comparison I bought a Pioneer 43" monitor w/ side mounted speakers, model #PDP-4304 ,that he likes to watch. They aren't gamers. With so many competing technologies out there I'd like to get some recommendations from Forum members before looking in retail outlets.

Nothing smaller than a 60", and even that is small for 14'.

If plasma and LCD are too expensive for that size, consider a Rear Projection TV.
