View Full Version : Poll: How will you be buying your version of Spiderman? ack_bk 08-04-07, 06:22 PM Please vote on the news announcement for Spiderman 1-3 and your purchasing plans. And please no HD DVD trolls. Mongoos150 08-04-07, 06:25 PM Won't be buying. Possibly renting. ack_bk 08-04-07, 06:26 PM I am definitely getting the boxset. Should be around $65-68 at Amazon. HiddenDepth 08-04-07, 07:30 PM The box, for sure, cause i wanted to have from beginning all 3 parts in HD. dpags 08-04-07, 07:38 PM Undoubtedly the boxset. Been waiting for these a long time. nyg 08-04-07, 07:55 PM Undoubtedly the boxset. Been waiting for these a long time. What he said. :) AaronSCH 08-04-07, 08:39 PM I plan on buying the boxset with the caveat that they be reasonably priced. I won't spring for much more than $60 for the set. That is roughly what I paid for the Mission Impossible set after my 10% Amazon discount. As stated in another thread, I am not gonna be suckered into paying almost $100 when Sony is likely to discount the individual films when they do their inevitable buy one get one free promos. momaw 08-04-07, 08:46 PM Where's the "won't be buying due to price nearly the same as the damn player" option? dobyblue 08-04-07, 08:47 PM I am definitely getting the boxset. Should be around $65-68 at Amazon. I agree and my choice will be the same as you brother! :D Can't wait. dobyblue 08-04-07, 08:47 PM Where's the "won't be buying due to price nearly the same as the damn player" option? Huh? Trilogy will be $68.95 or less on Amazon with free shipping. ack_bk 08-04-07, 08:52 PM Where's the "won't be buying due to price nearly the same as the damn player" option? Where can you get a Blu-Ray player for $70 or less? You do realize the MSRP on the boxset is $99 right? Amazon usually offers 32% off MSRP on Sony Blu-Ray movies.. If you were talking about Star Trek Season 1 on HD DVD which MSRP's for $217.99, then you would have a point. ChrisInCali 08-04-07, 08:53 PM Spider-Man trilogy on Blu-ray Boxset baby, the only way to go! Joon TV 08-04-07, 08:56 PM Looks like the box set is the overwhelming favorite as of right now. I to am a go for the box set. Rachael Bellomy 08-04-07, 09:12 PM I'm gonna buy #3 only, proably...? I can watch the first two on DVD anytime but don't....I'd rather stomp on spiders than watch them.... ;) MSmith83 08-04-07, 09:24 PM I will undoubtedly be getting the box set. I've held off on the SD DVDs of parts one and two in anticipation of their HD releases. hassoon 08-04-07, 09:33 PM The boxset with everything but the kitchen sink ;) . ack_bk 08-04-07, 10:20 PM I will undoubtedly be getting the box set. I've held off on the SD DVDs of parts one and two in anticipation of their HD releases. Wow, you have more patience than me :) I am just going to sell my DVD versions.. Sofdec7 08-04-07, 10:39 PM Depends on the price - I wasnt a huge fan of Spiderman 1 or 2 and havent even seen 3. I'll probably pick it up anyways and go the boxset route if it comes to about $15 per movie for the first 2 ($30 for SM3 or $60 for the boxset). Any more than that ($70 for the set, for example) I'll probably pass. More than $30 for SM3 and I'll probably pass on that too. wildfire99 08-04-07, 11:26 PM Other: I will rent it until Sony sobers up and gets real with the price of SM3 (regardless of the cost of the box-set). I already bought SM1 and 2 on DVD, I don't feel a striking need to own them again at a premium, and I don't want to support any kind of trend that makes movie prices go UP instead of DOWN. Even if the street prices are reasonable, I still will likely rent. Spidey isn't like an opera that I can watch again and again, and I feel surprisingly content with Netflix and a very sparse HD shelf. :) Icemage 08-05-07, 12:15 AM Box set for me. ~70 is an acceptable price for 3 movies in HD, especially with the TLC Sony has been giving to their releases (BD50, high bitrate AVC, lossless audio. Heaven!). dildatonr 08-05-07, 12:21 AM Box set here. Jim Morrison 08-05-07, 01:27 AM Box Set for me too. Incidentally, UK folks might be interested to know that Sendit.com are doing the Trilogy set for the rather reasonable price of £32.89! :) invadergir 08-05-07, 01:36 AM Well i want to see what Amazon.com will have the Box Set at and and what the 3rd movie will be at as well. See what works out cheaper overall in the long run. More then likely i will be getting the Box Set egy971 08-05-07, 02:26 AM Box set. If anyone gets SM3 on its own, that's just down right dumb. Why buy that sh!t movie for $35 when you can get the first two gems for just $30 more? theforce8686 08-05-07, 02:31 AM Box set is a definite for me. I think they definitely got better as they went on and I really hope they make a 4th one. Krycek7o2 08-05-07, 03:25 AM Boxset baby! vancouver 08-05-07, 03:35 AM Im sorry. Blue Ray has a lot of great exclusives, but the Spiderman series is brutal. 1st was only ok and the 2nd/3rd are a waste of time. SAFOOL 08-05-07, 04:05 AM Part 3 for me if it is priced under 24.99. Ive seen 1 and 2 so many times on tv I cant stand them anymore. MarekM 08-05-07, 04:11 AM Box Set for me too. Incidentally, UK folks might be interested to know that Sendit.com are doing the Trilogy set for the rather reasonable price of £32.89! :) oh, thank you very much for info !! I was going to order US box set, but 3rd spiderman is region coded :( so no I am glad you mentioned this price on sendit.com and seems like at leas UK version will have same VIDEO and AUDIO specs as US version. thanx Marek Red-Ray 08-05-07, 04:16 AM I'll get the boxset. Loved 1 & 2, but never got the chance to see 3. momaw 08-05-07, 05:19 AM Huh? Trilogy will be $68.95 or less on Amazon with free shipping. Yeah and Spiderman 3 alone will be around $35 with an SRP of $49.95. Anyway you look at it it is a rip-off. Is the price inverse to the quality of the film? cybersoga 08-05-07, 05:27 AM Spiderman isn't that entertaining when you get past the eye candy... J.Nomak 08-05-07, 06:24 AM Expected them to initially offer them this way. I thought SM3 blew chunks, so I guess I'll have to wait till next year for the good ones separately. I can be patient. tsb 08-05-07, 06:39 AM I personally wouldn't buy them unless they were in a set. I like sets. Plus at least SIII has Chinese subs, not sure about the other two. that makes it an easy purchase for me. BjornK 08-05-07, 08:32 AM I might buy the boxset, unless they release the movies separately as well. The thing that concerns me is that according to the release announcement I saw only SM3 is going to be a 2-disc, while SM1&2 are only going to be 1-disc releases. I hope this is wrong, since it doesn't make any sense as both movies are available as 2-disc or even 3-disc editions on standard DVD. Dr Kain 08-05-07, 08:38 AM I was going to say I'll be buying the box set, but then I noticed it is 2.1 rather than just 2, and that pisses me off. tsb 08-05-07, 09:39 AM I was going to say I'll be buying the box set, but then I noticed it is 2.1 rather than just 2, and that pisses me off. Is that an extended edition or something? that would be sweet IMO. rcavictor1956 08-05-07, 10:17 AM Without a doubt the box set..... Chief Brody 08-05-07, 11:41 AM I'm buying SM3 on BR from Australia as it's out six weeks before the U.S. release on September 19, and Sony's Region B releases are not region-coded. Will stick with the DVD's of 1 and 2 for now. Icemage 08-05-07, 12:22 PM I was going to say I'll be buying the box set, but then I noticed it is 2.1 rather than just 2, and that pisses me off. Spiderman 2.1 is 3 versions with seamless branching, as I understand it. There's nothing to be pissed off about. AaronSCH 08-05-07, 01:13 PM Im sorry. Blue Ray has a lot of great exclusives, but the Spiderman series is brutal. 1st was only ok and the 2nd/3rd are a waste of time. Personal choice is one thing but this box set is gonna smash high def records this Christmas. I am willing to bet money on it. Kevin12586 08-05-07, 01:17 PM Box set for me, I only bought the original DVD which I will give to my younger brother. Maxx2029 08-05-07, 01:53 PM I have the I & II on DVD, but I'll sell them away in my DVD clearance sale. Although I'm not that big of a Spider-Man movie fan (love the comics though), HD presentation should suit very well on Spider-Man series. rolltide1017 08-05-07, 01:54 PM I picked other because I'm waiting for the individual release of 1 & 2. AlexBC 08-05-07, 02:33 PM I picked other because I'm waiting for the individual release of 1 & 2. Me too. I don't think I can ever stand watching SM3 again. What a disaster of a movie. theforce8686 08-05-07, 02:38 PM Me too. I don't think I can ever stand watching SM3 again. What a disaster of a movie. I dont how some of you guys say that. I think it was easily the best one of the three. I cant wait to see it again. -diVe- 08-05-07, 03:18 PM Me too. I don't think I can ever stand watching SM3 again. What a disaster of a movie. I feel the same way about the first Spider-Man. I'm gonna get the boxset. I'll keep Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3. Then I'll sell Spider-Man. chokeslam 08-05-07, 03:39 PM Spiderman 2.1 is 3 versions with seamless branching, as I understand it. There's nothing to be pissed off about. 3 versions?! Has Sony released a 3rd version of Spider-man 2 yet? I only know of 2.0 and 2.1. ack_bk 08-05-07, 04:33 PM 3 versions?! Has Sony released a 3rd version of Spider-man 2 yet? I only know of 2.0 and 2.1. I think it is two versions with seamless branching between both. Can't wait. I love #1 and #2, and did not get a chance to see #3 in the theater, so I am excited to watch them all back to back to back in high def with lossless audio. Why go to the theater :) |
