I plan on buying the boxset with the caveat that they be reasonably priced. I won't spring for much more than $60 for the set. That is roughly what I paid for the Mission Impossible set after my 10% Amazon discount. As stated in another thread, I am not gonna be suckered into paying almost $100 when Sony is likely to discount the individual films when they do their inevitable buy one get one free promos.

Where can you get a Blu-Ray player for $70 or less? You do realize the MSRP on the boxset is $99 right? Amazon usually offers 32% off MSRP on Sony Blu-Ray movies.. If you were talking about Star Trek Season 1 on HD DVD which MSRP's for $217.99, then you would have a point.

Looks like the box set is the overwhelming favorite as of right now. I to am a go for the box set.

Wow, you have more patience than me :) I am just going to sell my DVD versions..

Depends on the price - I wasnt a huge fan of Spiderman 1 or 2 and havent even seen 3. I'll probably pick it up anyways and go the boxset route if it comes to about $15 per movie for the first 2 ($30 for SM3 or $60 for the boxset). Any more than that ($70 for the set, for example) I'll probably pass. More than $30 for SM3 and I'll probably pass on that too.

Other: I will rent it until Sony sobers up and gets real with the price of SM3 (regardless of the cost of the box-set). I already bought SM1 and 2 on DVD, I don't feel a striking need to own them again at a premium, and I don't want to support any kind of trend that makes movie prices go UP instead of DOWN.

Even if the street prices are reasonable, I still will likely rent. Spidey isn't like an opera that I can watch again and again, and I feel surprisingly content with Netflix and a very sparse HD shelf. :)

Box set for me. ~70 is an acceptable price for 3 movies in HD, especially with the TLC Sony has been giving to their releases (BD50, high bitrate AVC, lossless audio. Heaven!).

Well i want to see what Amazon.com will have the Box Set at and and what the 3rd movie will be at as well. See what works out cheaper overall in the long run. More then likely i will be getting the Box Set

Box set. If anyone gets SM3 on its own, that's just down right dumb. Why buy that sh!t movie for $35 when you can get the first two gems for just $30 more?

Box set is a definite for me. I think they definitely got better as they went on and I really hope they make a 4th one.

Im sorry. Blue Ray has a lot of great exclusives, but the Spiderman series is brutal. 1st was only ok and the 2nd/3rd are a waste of time.

Part 3 for me if it is priced under 24.99. Ive seen 1 and 2 so many times on tv I cant stand them anymore.

so no I am glad you mentioned this price on sendit.com

and seems like at leas UK version will have same VIDEO and AUDIO specs as US version.

Yeah and Spiderman 3 alone will be around $35 with an SRP of $49.95. Anyway you look at it it is a rip-off. Is the price inverse to the quality of the film?

Expected them to initially offer them this way. I thought SM3 blew chunks, so I guess I'll have to wait till next year for the good ones separately. I can be patient.

I personally wouldn't buy them unless they were in a set. I like sets. Plus at least SIII has Chinese subs, not sure about the other two. that makes it an easy purchase for me.

I might buy the boxset, unless they release the movies separately as well. The thing that concerns me is that according to the release announcement I saw only SM3 is going to be a 2-disc, while SM1&2 are only going to be 1-disc releases. I hope this is wrong, since it doesn't make any sense as both movies are available as 2-disc or even 3-disc editions on standard DVD.

I'm buying SM3 on BR from Australia as it's out six weeks before the U.S. release on September 19, and Sony's Region B releases are not region-coded. Will stick with the DVD's of 1 and 2 for now.

Personal choice is one thing but this box set is gonna smash high def records this Christmas. I am willing to bet money on it.

Box set for me, I only bought the original DVD which I will give to my younger brother.

I have the I & II on DVD, but I'll sell them away in my DVD clearance sale. Although I'm not that big of a Spider-Man movie fan (love the comics though), HD presentation should suit very well on Spider-Man series.

I think it is two versions with seamless branching between both. Can't wait. I love #1 and #2, and did not get a chance to see #3 in the theater, so I am excited to watch them all back to back to back in high def with lossless audio. Why go to the theater :)
