Looks like Sylvania have a new Faroudja player

A fair amount below $100 too.

I'll try it if it does DTS and has DCDi which I doubt on both account. Sylvania cuts cost by not passing DTS at all via SPDIF and skipped DCDi after DVL-1000F model (DVL-1000G has Zoran chipset, I know I bought one by mistake). http://www.sylvaniaconsumerelectronics.com/products/dvd/spec/DP170SL8.pdf says NOTHING about DCDI (regardless of what Amazon says, I tend not to trust them) nor DTS support. There is a manual here as well http://www.sylvaniaconsumerelectronics.com/products/dvd/manual/DP170SL8_manual.pdf which does not mention DCDi or Faroudja anywhere.
I like DivX 6 support but no USB support that I can see. I also like 480i (possibly via HDMI?). I doubt it's DCDi and more likely Zoran.
EDIT: No DTS support is confirmed. Look on page 25 of 28 of PDF manual. "This unit does not support DTS audio. This is not a malfunction"

Thanks, Huey. $80 seemed kinda cheap for a Faroudja based player.

I believe this player is the replacement for the 1000f. I am going to pick one up at Radio Shack and test it out. Just bought a 52" Samsung 1080p LCD and hoping to get the Samsung BDP 1200 next year. Hoping this player will tide me over till then since it does upscale to 1080p. I have the 1000f and it has been a great little player. No problems and a great PQ for the price. The only bummer is the lack of DTS support but many of the lower end players are doing this. Memorex and RCA both have dropped DTS support.

I purchased this player out of curiosity for little money and it is not DCDI. Amazon states that but I popped it open and no Genesis chip.
Returned it and bought a LG DN788 and it does have the 2310 chip.
Great PQ and will hold me over till BR players come down in price. Also it has DTS support. Small child like remote but that seems to be the trend these days. Also a cheap owners manual.

I just purchased this player and it looks great BUT I cannot get it to display in 1080p mode - that mode is not an option in the output selections. I'm still trying to figure out if my configuration is somehow making that option no available or the model is simply not able to do it (meaning all the documentation is incorrect).
