I realize they are twiddling with BD+ etc, but anyone have any info on a possible return to releasing? It's getting to the point of ridiculous. We are already in August with no announcements as of yet.

I think Fox will re-enter the Blu scape after Oct'2007 post BD+ implementation. I hope that they don't drop a bomb stating that their security enhanced discs will work if and only if the player has BD+ implemented.

Q4 2007

Is there anyone who won't be releasing product for their respective format(s) during Q4? In the big picture this is probably fine, but doesn't reflect Fox statements of aggressive support of High Definition. In my mind, they will always be tagged as poor at follow through on stated positions; and I will lend virtually no credence to future statements - only actions...

it is in fact disappointing that fox is not releasing any titles at the moment in the US. it is illusional to believe that in the long run, any system will be able to restrict illegal copying of movies. this is just the reality of the 21th century and the studios will have to live with it

I have a hunch they'll release The Day After Tomorrow before the end of the year.

That title and several others were announced internationally. Are those still planned or have they been postponed as well?

That title would definitely reflect their current release strategy.

At the prices Fox charges for BD, they can never release anything for all I care. They're not getting my money until their prices are competitive.

They will release once BD+ is 'secure'. Once that gets cracked, and it will, they will hold off on release for another 6 months.

Ditto. Here's what I hate about Fox's current business model:

1. Announce release dates for movies and consistently push back those dates

2. Charge an MSRP of $40 per title with no extras whatsoever

3. Encode the audio with a format that is not fully supported by any player on the market.

Fox has some of my favorite movie titles, but this approach is unacceptable. Sometimes it makes my head hurt when I think that some committee of ivy league MBA's are making these decisions and either ignore or fail to realize how pissed of the early adopter base is because of Fox's lack of effort. I hope they get their act together and that they truly are waiting until the 1.1 spec is required.

All I have to say is thank god for Warner. I know they catch alot of flak (especially from Blu-backers), but they seem to be the only studio out there consistently releasing titles that interest me. As I look over my Blu and HD-DVD collection, the number of spines with WB on them is telling. I own exactly two Fox titles: KoH and Speed, and the only reason I bought them is because Amazon had that "Fox titles on sale for normal prices sale" a while back.

Maybe Fox's strategy is to hold out long enough until we're desperate enough for some content to pay their outrageous prices. *sigh*

It would be stupid for Fox not to release Fantastic Four 2, Die Hard 4, and Simpsons Movie on BD day-and-date with the DVDs. I think we will at least get those from Fox this year.

Yeah, if those dont see the light of day, Fox is out of their mind. They can take of the summer off and work out the kinks, but to miss the holiday buying season? that would be idiotic.

Sorry if this off topic but with the new 1.1 will we need to buy new players in order to play the new 1.1 titles? And yes Fox's titles are over priced

Fox has always charged more. Their Laser Discs [Fox: $39.99 compared to Others: $34.99 or $32.99] were more expensive than the competition. Their DVDs are/were more expensive than the competition so it is no surprise that their Blu-Ray discs will be more expensive. They always do it. I don't agree with their pricing but they do it. Truth be told, I haven't seen what Fox offers more than other studios on their discs [LD / DVD / BD] that makes them charge more.

While not as big as the above movies, they(Fox) have already announced 28 Weeks Later for DVD only ( October).

Yes, if you want to be able to play all the features on the disc. You will need a new player.

Umm, just to inform you every BD player has BD+.

BD+ is not the same thing as Profile 1.1. BD+ was there on day one.

I really do hope so cause if I find one more thing my BD-P1000 is not compliant with I will not be a happy blu camper.

Just as long as they release Man on Fire and Die Hard series, I will be more than happy with them.

Now, hurry the f*ck up Fox!

I don't buy DVDs anymore so, if Fox wants to sell me "The Simpsons Movie" then they have to release it on BD. Like they care about little ole me though.
