it doesn't really need to be "HD," but i'd really like something widescreen in this range with a builtin dvd. i can't seem to find anything at bestbuy though, and i'm trying to avoid something like a westinghouse or insignia....

I think you're SOL. I've looked, and the only tier 1 manufacturer making new CRTs is Samsung. Their 27" is 4:3, w/o DVD player.

The Toshiba MD26H82 might be what you're looking for. 26" widescreen HD CRT with a built-in DVD player. Newegg.com has it in stock for $599 with a $99 shipping charge.
