If this is close, what I did was used the Leviton Decora inserts with the snap-in modules that came in white. Rattle can of satin black paint (for automotive trim) after taking the connectors out and voila!! Stainless plates compliments of the local Orange store :D

I haven't seen them in black, but I was too cheap to really shop around - there may be some out there, but perhaps someone else here has found any?

Good Luck in your build!

Does spray paint stick well to plastic and vinyl wall plates?

I've found this aerosol quite durable for plastics, more so than some of the other 'regular' brands:

http://www.bondo.com/catalog_item.asp?itemNbr=328

It's got a lot of nasties in it (acetone, tolulene, methyl ethyl ketones), but I believe it is acrylic-based. I usually touch up the windshield wipers and black parts of my vehicles with it every three or so years - it's designed for bumper trim applications, so it adheres well to plastics.

You can 'scrape' it off with abuse, so as long as you treat your wallplates with respect, you should be okay :D

I also needed the speaker plates in black.

Found them at above location.

Home Depot did not have the Decora screwless plates I really love, but Lowes did.

I am all about the screwless Decora plate and thats all I have on my black projector wall.
