OK, here's a weird question!

I am in the building stage of my HT, and have put 4 recessed areas for posters (awesome). They are recessed into the wall...

Anyhow, the room will be painted dark wine red, with black accents (black GOM columns and panels).

What color would you guys paint the interior of the poster recesses? Same red wine? Or? Just looking for opinion especially from those that have made these recesses in your HT....

Something dark would give some added contrast to the poster and frame making them POP.

Not sure of your poster frame color. I would go with the wine red or an even darker shade of wine. Black would work with gold/silver frame colors but not with black. Just don't do anything light.

Just looked at your pics and the space is looking good. Are those recesses big enough to hold a framed poster? Did you ever figure out a lighting scheme for the posters?

BIGmouthDC:

The poster boxes are larger than your std poster dimensions, such that there is a 2" open space all around the poster once mounted. The posters will be 'plak mounted', so they have no frame except for the thin black line that the plak produces.

As far as lighting, each recess will have a 3" halogen light on the top, and they are of the 'eyelid' variety, so they can be tilted towards the poster a few degrees (20-30 deg or so). It might still cast a cone on the posters, but its the best I can do.... I hope the 'cone' effect is not too pronounced once I tilt them inward. They will be attached to a dimmer so I can control the intensity.
