Hi everyone,

I've been out of the technology loop for a couple of years, so I'd like some help replacing my DVD player.

I have the Marantz VPS2 projector (a couple of generations old) but still has a fabulous picture. My understanding is that the internal scaling in the Marantz is excellent, so I don't know what kind of enhancements in a DVD player are really going to improve the picture?

An annoying problem I have with my current DVD player is that it doesn't recognize the difference between 4:3 and 16:9, and you have to toggle back and forth to "squeeze" mode. Also, when previews/extras on a dvd are not anamorphically enhanced, I can't seem to figure out any button on the DVD player or the projector to keep everything from looking "stretched."

Anything that would fix those two issues would be great. I'd like to get as many useful features as I can, without paying for features I don't need. The VPS2 is DVI (no HDMI), so DVI output would be a bonus, but I know I can get the converter from Radio Shack for $50.

I'd like to spend under $500, but am happy to spend much less if I don't need to. All help would be appreciated.
