Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction Coming?

As previously reported, Sony has released a calendar for Blu-ray releases in Europe. A quick peek shows a couple of surprises. September 2nd shows the release of 'Kill Bill Part 1' and 'Kill Bill Part 2', followed the next day by 'Pulp Fiction'. All three releases are from Buena Vista Home Entertainment, who own the distribution of these titles in Europe. There has been no official announcement of these titles (the calendar should be considered unofficial), but we may have a nice surprise coming next month to Blu-ray.

I pre-ordered them almost a month ago from amazon.co.uk

The Weinstein Co. is also putting out the uncut KILL BILL before year's end, and since they are about to go neutral, Blu-ray will get that version as well.

I hope everything you said turns out to be true but we still have no confirmed release dates for the Kill Bill: TWBA and Grindhouse HD DVD's. Hopefully, when they announce the HD DVD's they will also announce the BD versions. Keeping my fingers crossed. :)

Yeah, we can only hope the Weinstein rumor comes true, until then dont state it like its true until we hear so. Too many in both camps keep rumors afloat.

That being said I want Pulp Fiction and would love Grindhouse.

well he did put the ? in there so it's not being stated like true. Pulp Fiction i will buy however many times it takes to have the best possible version (not counting same-transfer-but-with-extra type releases). Kill Bill, Sin City are must haves as well. Grindhouse i have not seen but will be a blind buy.

Hell yes... These Tarantino movies (along with Cars & Spidey, etc.) would be terrific BD exclusives and would really help the format during the holiday season.

They need to announce these. Now.

This is quite a leap of logic by the guys at blu ray.com There are quite a few Disney movies like Crimson Tide which are not out yet on BR in the US.

If there were really firm rumors I might be able to withstand.....but I am dying to watch KB titles on my new scope set up.....titles like this were made for cinemascope glory. Using the voucher breaks down to about 27 each....I can live with that price.

Is there going to be a new topic about this everyday?

There should be a "KB/PF coming? soon? too BD?/Weinstein going neutral sometime within the present timeline" sticky.

I keep getting worked up everytime I see it. ;)

I wonder if Weinstein not wanting to go neutral has anything to do with the John Woo game getting its release pulled for the PS3?

Here's what is getting everyone all excited about a possible annoucement about WBA...Amazon's placecard for this title. Note that the release date has changed from when it was first reported by IGN:

http://dvd.ign.com/articles/799/799294p1.html

Hmmmm, I doubt think Santa will be dropping off this release to your local Best Buy or Walmart on the Amazon release date listed of 12/25/07?!?!

http://www.amazon.com/Kill-Bill-Who...86762249&sr=8-1

Note that the image shown in their placecard is from a customer image of possibily what the box might look like.

I'd like to believe this info is accurate...but my gut says it's no different than the placecards for LOTR etc. Is there any interviews or quotes from Weinstein Brothers or Tarantino?

I guess I'm uneducated in these matters. Aren't Blu-Ray discs region coded, meaning you cannot, in fact, play them in US machines? I know Japan and the US are in the same region now, but Europe is region 2 so any discs with that coding should not play. Are you trying to say that all currently released European Blu-Ray discs will play in US machines?

Blu-ray supports region coding but it isn't a requirement. For example the UK releases by Disney like The Rock, Evan Almighty, Con Air etc all play fine in US players. It is up to the studio to decide whether or not to add region coding to a title.

Hard not to agree with that. I suspect the UK versions will be regionfree though so if no release surfaces Stateside I'll be importing those.

Kill Bill should be issued in a Blade-Runner esque set.

A collector is going to want all versions of the movie(s).

There's a U.S. cut of vol. 1, along with a Japanese cut.

The Whole Bloody Affair will be more than just the 2 spliced together, since the intro/recap on Kill Bill Vol. 2 will be excised, also some other edits to the film. Word at the time was that the "Old Klingon Proverb" quote was changed for Whole Bloody Affair. I think the cliffhanger will be removed as well. Originally, we weren't going to know about the daughter until the Bride stumbled upon her in Bill's place.

Unfortunately, with the different versions being issued by different studios, it makes an Ultimate Collector's Edition next to impossible. Freakin' Weinsteins.

I would assume that it might make a difference which studio releases which title?

I just looked up the studio who released "The Crow " on Blu Ray in England and it's Entertainment In Video.

I assume that Buena Vista Home Entertainment is the one releasing KB 1/2 and Pulp Fiction on Blu Ray.

Can we assume that BVHE has changed their position on this issue? "The Rock" (a BVHE title) is not regionally encoded. What am I missing?

TMNT was a joint venture between Weinstein and Warner. Warner has distribution rights though.

The Whole Bloody Affair is so late to the party its sickening.

My big question is, should we divide the movie onto two blurays, or leave it in one bluray with a lower bitrate.

As frustrating as that is, Gangs Of New York is distributed by EIV, whereas Kill Bill & Pulp Fiction are Buena Vista. With BV's recent crop of UK titles all being 'Region Free' (Crimson Tide, The Rock, Starship Troopers, Con Air etc), it would be very surprising if they did an about face and locked Kill Bill/Pulp to Region B only.

Region-coding makes no sense to me for catalog movies. I understand the need for new releases, where Europe or Asia may get movies after the U.S. market or vice versa.

On Some of the website in the uk (play.com, asda.co.uk, hmv.co.uk) they have pulled kill bill volume 1 and 2 from 3rd of september and replaced the date with to be confirmed. so they've wont be out on the 3rd.

UK based online retailer, play.com no longer has a release date for 'Pulp Fiction' and 'Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2.' It seems that they may not be coming out after all, which really sucks. Let's hope it's just an error.
