Why are there so few Blu-Ray disks with DolbyTrueHD audio? Also, is the uncompressed LPCM audio on Blu-Ray as good as DolbyTrueHD?

Also, the uncompressed LPCM audio on Blu-Ray as good as DolbyTrueHD? just as good, both are lossless bit for bit with the master. the diff between the two is lpcm requires no processing and is constant bitrate. truehd is variable bitrate and requires a decoder within the player for output. truehd takes up less space than lpcm does on disc. reason you dont see many discs with TrueHD is b/c some first gen bd players are not capable of decoding the signal, which would leave some customers w/o lossless audio. since BD does not have any issues with capacity, there's no reason not to just put lpcm tracks on the disc. |
