I found receiver lists but a can't find a definitive list of tvs. Can anybody help point the right direction. I'm looking for a 46"-52" range. I've been eyeing the Samsung LNT4661 but I can't seem to find good competition.

Yes I know there isn't any media out the needs the larger color space, but if I have a PS3 and I'm spending over $2k then I making sure I won't have to rebuy any time soon.

Thanks.

Hey man,

I am in the market as well. Technology paralysis is real. Everytime I think I have my mind made up, I hear some new technology is coming out. Right now I'm sure you've heard of the new Samsung 81 series with LED Backlighting, 120hz refresh and I do understand the whole HDMI 1.3 cravings BUT what I have found from lurking in these forums till 3am everynight is that there is no point just waiting for the "next thing". I think what I have decided to do is use the new technologies for good, by waiting till these newer models come out and wait for the current models that have everything I really need and snatch one up for less (hopefully). Sorry if that came off rant-ish.

Through my own research I have found out that there are plenty of tv's that have HDMI 1.3 ports, but the problem is that just because they have the port does not mean that they have all the features supported by HDMI 1.3. Deep Color, xvYcc, 10 bit color, all these features are optional and up to the manufacturer to decide whether or not ot add these into the display.

Samsung 61, 65 series and 5084 plasma has 1.3 and support xvYcc.

Toshiba LX177 series has 1.3 and supports 10 bit color with 120hz frame rate

Sharp 92U series has 1.3 120hz, and deep color (not sure tho)

Sony W and XBR4 series supports xvYcc and deep color XBR4 has 120hz

Panny PZ700 and PX750 series has 1.3 i have found out but panny does not list and features supported by 1.3?

I think the new Pio Elites have 1.3 but not sure about the features.

That is all I know, and after all those specs I like the Panasonic 50PZ700 for the price and PQ. My only other choices are Samsung and Toshiba. Its just the 52" LCDs are pricey compared to the panny 50" I have seen many happy owners on here with both those brands. One of the best pictures I have seen so far in a staore was the Sony 50XBR2 hooked up to a blu ray...amazing...the screen looked delicious...I just wanted to lick it.

Hope I could be of service and I feel for ya being in the same boat it is a hard desicion.

Thanks I think you have pointed in the right direction. I came to the same conclusion of waiting for the 81 series Samsung to come out to push down the price of the 61 series and pick up one of those.....well until I found the 5084, it is very tempting.

I've had a general negative attitude toward Sony mainly because I think they charge too much of a premium for their name.

Panny 700 not bad either, but if you have 1.3 and none of the features what is the point? However, I love their build quality. I used to work for an electronics retailer and honestly no matter what product it was (microwave, tv, stereo) Panny had one of the lowest defects rates in the store. Not known for a lot of bells and whistles but just always works.

Sharp, I'm kinda not convinced they have their build quality issues solved. As a brand they have always been a step behind in my experience. If I'm risking >$2k, I'm not doing it with them.

Pioneer very expensive.

The others I'll have to do some research on.

Has anybody been to videohelp? Why can't we have a list of all tv models and the relative featurs (like 1.3, xvycc, etc) that is searchable and sortable, like videohelp has for dvd players?
