I would like to rent The Big Lebowski HD-DVD from Netflix, but it's showing availability as "Unknown" Anyone got this from Netflix? If not, do you know what's up with this? I mean this movie was released weeks and weeks ago.

It switched to an "unknown" release date just shortly before the HD DVD came out... and it's never been available.
I gave them a call a few weeks back to mention it and they said they'd "look into it". Doesn't look like that actually happened. I'd suggest that others call/e-mail to let them know... that should help get this out of the purgatory it’s currently stuck in.
Same thing with "The Contract" as Netflix only has the DVD version. I called and emailed them yesterday on that, so I think that's the best thing everyone can do to get these issues fixed. Of course it will take Netflix at least a week or 2 to order/stock/update database/website so give it a bit of time.

I guess I could buy it and just sell it on here if I don't like it.

It's an aquired taste just returned it to BB and I'd suggest you rent first.

Actually, it's very much a "love it or hate it" type of movie. It's the very definition of a rental title, in my opinion (assuming someone hasn't yet seen the film).
