Human Bean 08-07-07, 10:52 AM I haven't seen this one, but High-Def Digest's review (http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/viewfromspace.html) doesn't sound encouraging.
HDphile, maybe you'd like to elaborate on why it's so good?

Yes, it's quite lovely. A buddy of mine bought it at Fry's to show off his Panny plasma. I was quite envious. The PQ was good. It reminds me of Blue Planet.
HDphile22 08-08-07, 05:32 PM Wow that Review seems just WRONG... The PQ is Excellent, and yet it got a very poor PQ rating for the Review?
I thought the PQ is stunning.
I don't know, I haven't bought it yet, I just rented it... Cost $10 less I was bought it
Maybe anything with Nature looks GOOD in HD by default?
I have it. Its one of the worst looking discs in my collection. The review is sopt on.

JOHNnDENVER 08-08-07, 06:54 PM Dang I have it and marvel at the video. Talk about the opposite of a close up though. :)
It's subject matter is shot from a loooong distance away.
ricwhite 08-08-07, 07:26 PM It was rather poor. Sold it on Ebay. Very common stock HD footage of the shuttle launch. Space scenes were okay, but it loops over and over. In all, there was only about fifteen minutes of footage total. Music was okay. Watched it twice and thought the PQ was about a 3.5/5. Audio about the same. Not much repeat viewing potential unless you want to show off space shots to guests.
Out of the 100 or so HD DVDs I have, I would rank it in the bottom quarter, but it's not as bad as the worst buy I made: Guitarscape Planet

The disc is filled with artifacts. Some parts of it are so bad, that for the Blu-ray edition the studio actually cut out the worst-looking footage.

The Blu-ray runs 3 minutes shorter than the HD DVD.

Don't forget (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=11192070#post11192070): this is the same guy who wants a colorized version of Sin City and a grainless version of 300...

Personally, I prefer watching the SD DVD of Earthlight. Same subject matter (more or less), but much better done-wish it was coming out in HD.

Ugh.
Apparently in his eyes, massive macroblocks are fine, but black & white is awful.

I agree. It seemed twice as long as it actually was!
