got mine from Netflix today and great picture quality, turtles look great in the close ups. good sound, Dolby TrueHD. I had to turn it up more then usual though.

Review of the video:

Yes, I know it's not really fair to compare CGI-rendered images to a real-life ones, the cartoon always looking better because it has less nuance to convey, but the HD DVD video is terrific by any standard. Again, the screen is admirably clean, the delineation is as perfect as it could be, the colors--slightly muted on purpose--are rendered flawlessly, and backgrounds look as good as the best still photographs. I can't believe I'm still buying discs because they look good. I sampled this movie on DVD a week or so ago and decided I wasn't going to buy it. I was in Best Buy for something else this morning and guess what. I bought it anyway.

I have to admit, in HD quality, I find the movie a bit more involving than I remember from the DVD, which I did not finish. It really is a technical marvel for animation and the soundtrack is very impressive.

BTW, for the comments on banding, this is not a compression artifact on material like this, but an unfortunate side effect of downconversion of the master to 8-bit for consumer level HD.

I took my son to see it in the theaters....have to admit, I was bored silly by the end of the film's big fight scene. But he liked it, so I was compelled by the reviews to pick it up during the WB's recent 25% off sale. I'm a sucker for demo material...but how much do I really need? ;)

I love the audio on this disc! The PQ is great as well, nice detail.

Have a question about this disc. While watching this movie in Dolby TrueHD at or around the 31:30 mark my reciever overloads and shuts off if the volume is past a certain level. Is anybody else experiencing this? Or is it my speaker set up? Help is appreciated.

Went to Target earlier today to pick it up, but could not find any (HD-DVD or Blu) in their electronics section. Talked to one of the people working there and she basically said that they SHOULD be there, but apparently somebody forgot to take them out.

Ended up finding a copy at Sears for $40 ?!?! Fortunately I was able to price match Target's price of $27.95 without an ad or a printout. (they simply checked Target's website)

The PQ and AQ are absolutely top notch - perhaps the BEST I have seen yet and I own King Kong, 300, Riddick, and Training Day.

I grew up on the turtles so I enjoyed the movie, but I can see if others don't. Movie felt rushed and is only 87 minutes long according to the box.

Bought TMNT at Frys today for 29.99. Ouch. I looked over and saw the BD version for 28.99, I didn't mind so much anymore. :D Noticed a handful of WB titles for 15$ each and 300 was completely sold out on HD DVD. :p

I scanned the disc for PQ and it looks fantastic. Gonna watch it tonight.

I am reading some positive stuff about the PQ. It's up on the XBOX Marketplace in HD. I was thinking on renting it so I can watch it with my kids. If it looks good from the Marketplace, then it will look that much better on HD-DVD.

Just watched about 30 minutes from my Netflix copy in today's mail...Tier0!!!

I ordered a bunch of HD-DVD's from the Warner site last night and regretted putting TMNT on the list...now I don't.

I have to agree about Hot Fuzz, it's my new bench market in demo PQ

Just got back from Best Buy and Target looking for TMNT on HD-DVD. I have to say, I loathe Best Buy. I tried to price match per the person farther up on the thread and they would not do it. They said that they are cracking down on price matching from the internet and I tried to argue with her that the its not just an e-commerce site, its freaking Target and they still would not budge on the matter so I told them (the cashier and her manager) that I would go buy it from Target. Obviously I then went to Target and they didn't even have the HD-DVD or BD version in stock.

Feels like with Best Buy, I keep giving them another chance and they keep disappointing me. At some point, you would think I would stop banging my head against the wall...

I'm ordering TMNT from target.com by the way because I saw this in the theater and I can't wait to have it in HD.

Funny story - actually kinda stupid now that I think about it...

I wasn't too sure if I would enjoy Hot Fuzz (I liked Shaun of the Dead, but not really a must own for me) so I stuck it on my Netflix queue.

Suprisingly it arrived in my mailbox on release day! I had every intention of watching it so I stuck it in my player, but decided it was too late so I hit the sack. The next afternoon I go downstairs to the theater and turn on the A2, but the HD-DVD was no longer there! My dad had assumed that I had watched it the night before, so he sent it back in the mail :mad:

Now, Hot Fuzz is back in the Netflix queue, but it says there is a long wait :(

Yet another title I wanna pick up. That makes up a list of about 15 HD DVD's I want to buy :D

I saw this last night and though the PQ is good, the story is not all that interesting. I could have been a typical Saturday morning release instead of a full motion picture release. Worth a rental and that's about it in my book.

I saw most of this today (I had to stop it before the end but I saw "the fight") and I was very impressed - spectacular PQ and AQ, it looked much better on the set I saw it on than in the theater I went to. I'm a sucker for the Ninja Turtles so I enjoyed it but either way this looks great.

For the people that don't like this movie.......I ask how old you are? For me, the Ninja Turtles cartoon came out right in the prime age for watching that sort of thing (6 or 7 years old) so I remember them very well. Now that I'm 23, I really enjoyed the TMNT movie.

I liked a lot of what TMNT had to offer - when the movie focused on the turtles it was great - but the main storyline (especially the last act) left me cold. Overall the first Turtles movie is still my favorite, rubber suits and all. To me the ending left hope for a possible sequel with a more traditional Ninja Turtles plot.

This is a VERY Stunning movie on HD, but unfortunately I had to get the Blu-ray version cuz of the price!

For HD DVD group to win my Money, they need to Drop Combos & Lower the prices!

Or, they could put Exclusive Bonus features on HD DVD!

Neither was the case, so I went with BR instead.

Well, I finally picked up my copy of TMNT over at my local Fry's and the HD-DVD combo was $1 more than the BD version at $29.99. I can live with that.

After watching some different chapters, the film is amazing looking. The scene where Leonardo fights Raphael in the rain is spectacular.

Watched it last night with my wife and two girls and we were all amazed at how gorgeous it looked. Best Buy did a price match for me (matched Target's price of $27.95) and I think it was well worth it. Definitely top five demo material.

Yeah, the raining rooftop scene is the best in the movie, IMO.

TMNT isn't quite as consistently awesome as Happy Feet, which is my CGI HD benchmark, but it is close and is actually a solid movie, IMO. It shouldn't offend anyone like Happy Feet does! ;P

The movie is CG, so the "transfer" is very good. Like everyone else has said, the rooftop Raph/Leo fight in the rain is amazing. Def. worthy of being demo material. There was a feeling of texture through most of the movie. Without really looking, I couldn't find much wrong with the PQ or AQ, although it seemed a touch quieter, compared to other movies (but that just may be me noticing something that's not there). Adjusting the gain +2db from my receiversnormal setting and I was good.

Furthermore, I thought the story/movie was great - actually better than I expected. Entertained through the entire movie, and the <90 minutes passed by very quickly. I was a fan of the comics, and later the TV show (even enjoyed the first two live action films). This topped any other on-screen appearance of the Turtles, in my mind. If you ever liked them, buy this movie...

I have seen this movie in the theaters with my son when if first came out and it was alot of fun.
Turns out that I watched it another 3 times with my son on HD-DVD and I'm really, really liking the movie alot more. It's actually becoming one of my favorites. And anyone who has an opinion about The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles should see this movie before making a final opinion because I think this is what the Turtles are all about.
And as for the quality, just watch the Leonardo Raphael fight scene in the rain and you'll realize once again why you upgraded to HD. WOW!

I disagree. Happy feet has great detail and colors, but TMNT's 3D was throughout. I was amazed with this disc. definietly DEMO material.

Compare the SD vs. HD scene where they are fighting the Nijas in the courtyard before they go in for the final battle. Phenomenal!

I just watched this last night finally. As everyone said it looked gorgeous. I just was curious why they didn't at least do a small flashback as to how they defeated Shredder. Maybe if they do another one they will add that in.

Fan-FREAKIN'-Tastic. The Fight scene between Leo and Ralph looked amazing.

I just rented this from NF and it was AMAZING!! I was second guessing buying my XA2 and 60" Sony last month but after watching this movie in 1080p/24, it blew me away!!

The red neon of the roof fight scene looked real and all the close up shots are like you are looking at a 3D image. Now I have to sucker my wife into watching "a kid movie" as she says just so I can show her why we spent the money on the new AV gear. :P

I NEED to buy this movie now!!

Its pure eye candy and not to bad for the TMNT fans.

Picked it up on the Amazon BOGO. My son loved the movie on DVD and since it's a combo it'll play in all our players. Works out great.

Yeah, I just got it too from Amazon BOGO. It did have banding issues but overall, I'm pretty happy with this.

Excellent movie. Can be replayed once a month.
