View Full Version : Thanks buy.com!
For nothing! I ordered 300 last monday with 3-5 day shipping. Received it today, opened it up and to my surprise out fell the fullscreen standard definition release! 7 days of waiting for this! Called up and of course their support is no help, return it back to them and they'll send out the right one AFTER receiving mine which usually takes 3-5 days and then another 3-5 days for them to ship it back. No thanks, refund please and I'll pick it up locally. Oddly enough, on the same day I placed an order for shaun of the dead, using the cheaper 5-7 days shipping and received it correctly on friday! I guess that's what I get for trying to get a deal out of buy.com, no more though. Amazon or locally for me from now on.
On a sadder note, who still buys fullscreen dvd's and who in their right mind would buy the 300 fullscreen dvd. yuck
rboster 08-07-07, 06:16 PM So there was a fullscreen dvd in an HD-DVD case?
Did you use google checkout by chance?

no, it was a complete standard def fullscreen dvd case. Didn't bother to open it as they'd probably refuse it back then.
Did you use google checkout by chance?
For both of my orders, yes.
i offer my condolences. i would be pissed as well!
I've used buy.com a lot in the last year, including a number of google checkout orders and haven't had one problem. I always thake the cheap shipping, which usually gets here pretty quick anyways.
Are you sure you didn't mistakeningly order the wrong thing? I mean buy.com could have screwed up, but from my experience they've been pretty good on my end.

The two invoices in my email and the invoice included with the package all said 300 (hybrid/st-hd)HD, so no, I'm sure I ordered the right thing.
That blows. The pure excitement of seeing the package on the front porch when you get home only to have your emotional erection go limp when you open the parcel up...

Heh, well to make the story even worse! I get home and ask the wife if any mail for me fully expecting the movie to be there according to usps's tracking. Nothing she says! So I'm about to call up USPS to bitch them out when my neighbor rings my doorbell to tell me they put my package in her mailbox slot! I should have known it was only going to get worse from there!
lgans316 08-07-07, 09:18 PM How about sitting overseas and not receiving a shipment for more than 65 days ?

I ordered the exact same thing with the $18.99 pricing mistake that showed up for a couple of days and they sent me the right thing. I was actually expecting them to just send me the SD DVD and was surprised to see the HD DVD to be honest. Sorry to hear your experience didn't work the same way. Next time just return the disc to a local Wal-Mart and say you lost the receipt. If the disc is sealed they'll still take it and give you your money back.

Ditto.
Also, I've used buy.com for YEARS and have never had a problem with them.

Well, I thought about doing that, but I paid $24 for it, and it looks like the fullscreen copy of 300 only sells for $20 at walmart and includes a extra movie. So I'm not sure walmart would even take it. I'll just ship it back to buy.com and wait for my refund. Thanks for the idea though.
