A few questions for anyone in the know:

U-Control, I almost always have problems on my 1st gen player basically it freezes at some point during U-control PIP.

These are all rental discs, but i noticed the 2nd gen player usually has no problems with the exact same discs. I'm using the latest firmware, etc.

I wonder if there's something wrong in the application or are the G1 players just not very capable of handling PIP.


Secondly, is there any rumblings that Universal will enhance the U-Control programming?

I would really like to see them add an Auto-Play feature since choosing to fire the PIP video for each clip is tedious.

Well the few times I used U-control I've had no issues on my A1. So prehapps a defective player or bad firmware install.
Or bad disc. If the disc is damaged the player may have a tough time reading it..

I agree with you there. It's the reason I prefer Warner's IME to Universal's U-Control. While Universal's method gives the option of having multiple extras for a given point in the film, watching the PIP throughout the entire movie is much simpler with IME.

Yeah, I agree. I spend more time watching for the U-Control prompt than following what's going on in the movie for fear that I will miss an opportunity to go "behind the scenes".
