So I am moving into an apartment in a couple of days (first apartment, woo!) and i'm planning on setting it up mainly as a theater (well, small theater) and then my bedroom. The apartment is very small, in fact, it is an efficiency (about 366 sq. ft.) and pretty much has one big room (there is a small kitchen, bathroom, and closet).

I originally had a 51" Hitachi RP CRT (51F59) but sold it because the thing was too hard to move (I am still a student so moving is inevitable for right now). I worked quite a bit this summer and gave plasma twice a week for about three months so I was able to kind of put this plan to action. I got a Mits HD1000 projector and a 92" Greywolf II screen. Haven't exactly figured how I want to set everything up but I really wanted to chronicle the theater room from beginning to end.

Equipment:
- Onkyo 504 Receiver
- Polk R300s
- Polk R150s
- Polk CSR
- BIC H-100

- Toshiba HD-A1 (love this thing!)
- Mits HD1000
- 92" Greywolf Manual pull down screen

I know the gear isn't the best but i'm pretty proud of what I have been able to attain over the last couple of years. Currently I am an Electrical Engineering student (getting close to finishing, hehe) and I am hoping to work with something in the Home Theater field. It's a great hobby and though I don't have that much experience, I love learning everything about it!

I will try to get pictures soon but I am not sure when I'll be able to get internet at the new place.

Thanks!

Sam

I will be anxious to see your pictures. I am getting ready to sell my house, which has a dedicated room in the basement setup as a HT, and move into an apartment. My company is transferring me from Cincinnati to Nashville and we are going to do the apartment thing for about 6-9 months..

Well, i'm officially moved in. This place was a dump when I got here. I was slightly dissapointed. But after getting some of the stuff set up and moving some actual furniture inside, it started to look better. I didn't get to take pictures of some things since my camera died pretty much when I got here and I forgot where I packed the batteries, hehe. Will try and get some pics up tomorrow though. I'm stealing internet from my neighbor until the provider comes out here and installs it. Hopefully that will be soon!

Sam,

I am also a student living in an apartment until I graduate and have run into similar problems as you. Right now I have a 90" screen up with a Optoma HD72 projector connected to my media center PC. I'm surprised to see that you went with a manufactured screen as the cheapest screen for the best quality is the DIY Designer White laminate. I'll have to post some pictures of the way that my living room is set up. It's amazing how much stuff you can find in target for the small items in your home theater, like wall shelfs for your front speakers, or a component rack. I'd suggest getting a ceiling mount for your projector as its the easiest way to prevent people traffic from blocking your projection. Also, I'd work on getting a very flat black curtain for any windows you have in the living room of your apt. I'm at work right now so the post will have to be short, I'll try and update you with more information when I get back to my pad.
