Hi,

I have the Oppo DV-981HD player purchased from Gary AVS member.
I live in Europe, but ordered version for US market because it was available witch modified SDI output needed in my home theater system.
I am using this player to play both PAL and NTSC discs witch different region codes.
The player performs exceptional well, but there is one problem. The problem is bad synchronization of the subtitles to the frames. There is visible combing when subtitle disappears.
I downloaded the latest beta version firmware available for us market (batch 01-0531), but it not solved the problem.

On the Oppo web site for European market (http://www.opposhop.com/en/help/29/oppo_dv_981hd_firmware) I have found firmware update (batch BE981-00-0523) which addresses the problem of subtitle synchronization.

My question is: can I load European firmware in US market player and how to do that?

If not - maybe someone know how to solve the problem of subtitle synchronization in US market player?

Best regards,
Milimetr

You will want to download the 01-0627 Beta Firmware (http://www.oppo.se/upload/shuoming/DV-981HD/introduce_237555614.rar) from OPPO Europe. The reason for this is that the US firmware will cause PAL DVDs to freeze completely. All functions are the same, with added (but non-usable) functions like SCART control.

NOTE: The DVD player will be defaulted to PAL and Region 2 after the firmware upgrade.

Thank you for the answer.
After unpacking .rar file with European firmware the file has name: BE981-01-0627.bin.
Should I burn it as it is or should I rename it as 935.BIN to use it in US-market Oppo player?

Thanks a lot.
