Has anyone heard if we will start seeing any sports DVD's released? Everyone that I know, myself included, first got into HD because of sports. Seems like there would be a market for releasing big events, like Super Bowls or Final Fours, on HD DVD.

Warner tends to put out a lot of great NFL and NBA sets each year. I agree -- this seems like a natural option for HD treatment.

Watching the physical (& appreciating the mental) skills.

A lot of people watch movies that they've already seen.....same difference.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was always under the impression that sport DVD's weren't very good sellers. I would think that they would only sell well in specific regions, i.e. The Colts Superbowl DVD selling well in Indianapolis but not so well in other markets.

I'd like to see some Superbowl's released on HD and have all the file footage taken that year put on with some coherence for the extra features.

Here's the big problem with putting out sports on HD media...there are for the most part, no suitable sources from which to create the HD content. Recent stuff is more likely to be able to be ported to HD if they have master tapes for the HD feeds but all the old stuff is on ancient video that is nowhere near HD resolution nor could you up-size it without serious PQ issues. The best you can hope to get out of HD media with older sports would be a disc with a lot of SD content on it.

The only ones I can think of are the HDNET movies on HDDVD and they haven't released anything new for months.

The existing releases can still be bought on their website:
http://hdnet-store.stores.yahoo.net/hddvds.html

There are a few UFC titles and girls-in-bikini titles (that's a sport, right? ;) ). The Get Out titles also feature the girls doing various events in tropical locations (riding boats and such) but I think these are about the closest titles out there so far.

HDNET ordered a bunch of RedONE cameras for their content production so chances are we will see something (hopefully) next year. They can really raise the bar with those cameras so I'm excited about what could happen.

LSU beating Oklahoma to win the real 2003 College Football National Championship (the BCS one involving a crystal football) would be nice to have. That game was filmed in HD by ABC. However, I guess this means Blu-ray as Disney owns ABC and ESPN. I would buy that game on HD.

I would love to be able to get the world series set on HD DVD, not this year's but they would be an obvious choice to release, they are all shot in HD and they always release a dvd set every year.

I would really like to get all of the Bulls Championship games in HD, I wonder how hard it would be to remaster that stuff...
