Sent for it about 5 weeks ago. Anyone else have their screen? If so, what do you think of it?

I haven't opened it yet because I have a 100" white screen. This one is gray and 92". I wonder if it's going to allow better contrast than my regular white screen.

Come onnnnnnnnnnn, all these hd70 owners in here. Someone has the 92 inch panoview screen.

While the contrast may be better with the gray screen, I'm sure you'll hate losing the 8 inches in picture size! Might as well sell it, give it away, or donate it to charity. There's no going smaller in screen size, only larger!

I bet I will hate it for being smaller but i'm going to put it up this weekend just to see how it looks and then maybe stash it in one of my spare bedrooms for a bit.

haven't recieved mine yet and am trying to be patient, sent for mine almost two months ago. They told me it is not a grey screen but a low reflecting white one, which is cheaper than the grey one. Maybe the person is wrong, but now I'm curious. maybe you should open yours up and let us know if its white or grey.

Maybe I will. I'm assuming it is gray. Maybe I shouldn't be assuming that. Did you get the email stating they got your refund slip?

no email, I went to optoma.rebatestatus.com and entered the info and all it says is "we rcieved your info, we are currently processing it" This hasn't changed in about 4 weeks. when I called them, they told me the same thing and actually said its better to look online since more info is available, which isn't saying much because its literally one sentence on my order.

Mine was one line also. In fact, I wonder if it's changed. When I asked if you got the email, that's what I meant. Just a notification that they got your order because that's all I ever got. It just showed up today out of nowhere with the ups guy.

I lifted this from one of my earlier posts:

When I bought my DV10 over a year ago, I could choose from 2 screens, a 92" or a 106". You did not know what you would get though - either a graywolf (I at the time, the II wasn't out) or the matte white. I chose the 92" and happened to get the graywolf. I think I got it very quickly, almost immediately.

The graywolf is a retroreflective screen - it reflects light back to the source. For us it works well because the screen in mounted in a low ceilinged basement. The projector and the kids lie on the floor and light is reflected right back at them. The picture is noticeably dimmer if you're standing up and watching it.

The quality is relatively good on the graywolf, certainly better than some screens I've seen. We don't use it often, normally we just project the picture on our family room wall, but when we have used it, it's worked well. I have a felling that the graywolf II is a much better screen than the matte white.

I just checked the link they give you in that email. It now shows that it was mailed on 8-1-07 and it being delivered as of today.

The original email was sent to me on July 3rd so it about 5 weeks after they got the order and I would say it took maybe a week for them to let me know they got it so all in all, a little under 6 weeks turnaround.

From reading the original paperwork though, it could have taken up to 10 weeks.

I received my screen today. It is the 92" matte white as well. I don't know what I'll do with mine as yet since I made a 110" screen that has served me well. At least it's portable unlike my other one so I'll have a screen if I take my projector anywhere. :)

I wasn't aware Optoma/Panoview made a 92" Matte White pull down. It doesn't appear on their website, and I've never seen it on any retail sites either. Is it a discontinued model or something? In any event, you should probably consider yourself lucky it's not the Greywolf II. That model's a glass bead material and the sparkles will make you eyes bleed on bright scenes. It looks like a really really really bad screen door effect. Aside from the material, the physical build and housing is very high quality, I'd definitely buy a 92" Matte White.

Well, it looks like we got lucky then. I too find it odd that this screen isn't on any retail list. It appears to be no different than what I already have except smaller. I can't even find out what the gain is on it.

I see google turned up a product number of DS-9092PM.MW that links to a number of UK retailers. Seems like it might be a European model.

That's exactly the same boat that I'm in. They sent me the email that they received it on 7/6/07 which would be exactly 5 weeks ago, and as of now the same message is up:

"We have received your submission and it is being processed. Submission status information is updated daily. Please continue to check this website to find the mail date for your submission."

My problem is that my wall isn't white (it's beige), so my HD70 doesn't look as good as it probably will once I (finally) get the screen. Can't wait!!! Sounds like from your experiences that I shouldn't have to wait too much longer... :(

Yep, that appears to be it. No, it's nowhere to be found here in the U.S. Wow, even less gain than the screen I bought with my projector.

I am waiting for my screen now as well. I bought the HD70 on 7/20 and sent in the rebate for the 92" on 7/23 so according to this string I should see a reply by them by Sept? Good thing I made myself a 92" temporary screen for $10 worth of material. four two by fours, some L brackets to hold it together, some flat black spray paint, and a white sheet stapled taught to the back, looks pretty sweet as a 92" fixed screen for about $10. Finally fired up the projector for the first time tonight, have to bring it back, although I was able to watch 2 movies, there are two black spots, looks like confetti peices inside the lens that show up on the screen. When you focus it out, they aren't bad. but you can still see it during light parts in the movie...what a pain in the a$$.... Anyone have this problem wth something in the lens?

No, nothing like that. I would have been really upset by that. I bought a screen when I bought it at the store just so I wouldn't have to wait on the one that eventually came in the mail. It was dented on the right corner so I had to take it back. Luckily, they had a replacement in the store.

Still waiting on mine too. They said they got it 7/14 (which is about two weeks after I actually sent it.) Still just sitting there with the same "processing" message everyone else has. I'm projecting onto a green textured wall. So needless to say, I'm looking forward to a pretty good improvement when I finally get this screen...

The worst surface I ever projected on was a cream colored, heavily textured wall in a hotel room. Our normal surface is our green family room wall. To say it was better than the textured wall would be an enormous understatement. The green color doesn't really bother me too much by the way; I was pleasantly surprised the first time we used it. Sure the colors are off somewhat, but it's really not that bad.

When you finally get your screen, you're going to be thrilled. As I mentioned in a previous post, I have a graywolf, and it does work well for us. The matte white will also be great for many people.

is the HD70 the same thing as HD32?
