I have read on how to make a riser and stage, however I am now considering on axing the idea to make a stage and drape panels. I much prefer the finish look of something like the following. Any tips of how a novice DIYer can accomplish this?

I will have a 102" diagonal screen. The wall is 13' wide by 10' tall. Screen will be centered in the middle? I also don't want this to be too deep, just about 8" max with the screen mounted on the wall itself (i.e. not on the new stuff)

Thanks.

Very easy from the looks of the picture. Looks like a simple cabinet design to me.

Here is the theater build thread for that exact theater you linked to. It is pretty detailed with pictures and explanations. This should get you going...

great, thanks!!!

I have the columns already but we (the builder) did not fill it with insulation :-(

The other thing is that I already have carpet down and it looks Like dry-wall is needed. Damn, this is going to be hard to get pass the boss.
