I am trying to decide which projector to get for my PS3 gaming experience. I already have a 720p TV but would like to get a nice projector for not too much money. I was going to get the Panasonic ax100u but there seems to be many problems with it. I was wondering if I should still get it or if I should go with something like the Sony APWL15 or the Mitsubishi HC1500.

I also have a Nintendo Wii that I plan on using with the projector.

Check out the w500 thread, I'm still thinking about this one...
I ordered the HD80, but until they are instock, I can cancel my
order and order the W500...

this is a feature rich projector you should definately check out,
there are several posts about this one and PS3...

it will accept 1080p/24 which the ps3 will put out, ...
have a read and let me know what you think...

Wow the w500 is really impressive but i have yet to see any reviews on it. I liked the Sony and the Panasonic for the reason that it accepts the 1080p/24 but the Sony was supposedly pretty dark and the panasonic is more expensive. I really liked that projector though and from what I am reading on the forum page it doesn't seem like people are having problems with it.

this forum has a reviews section, avs reviews, and there is a review of the W500.
it will support 1080p/24 :o) I read through the whole thread, and there is lots of good info in there... :o)

Most PS3 games run at 1080p 30FPS though and some 60fps.. Would the W500 accept that setting?

that's a different frame rate...
:o) don't get caught up in that,

I have a ps3 and it works great with any TV...

:o)

the frame rate is dependant on the game, it has nothing to do the projector,
that frame rate is the rate that the processor on the ps3 can render frames...

so it's not related... :)

I have the Sanyo Z5 and almost exclusively use it for gaming on my ps3. I absolutely love it so far.

For reference, my screen is a DIY Do-able screen that's around 98".

I have the Z4. Excellent for gaming on 92". Not good out of box settings but when calibrated gives great picture.

Actually most do not and will not run in 1080p so i would not let that "sony fact" influence a decision like that.

Paradigm, if you don't mind me asking, what screen type are you using and how many hours are on your Z4's bulb?

I have a Z4 w/ quite a few hours on the bulb but when I'm playing FPS games, like Resistance: Fall of Man on the PS3 it is not bright enough. I have a High Contrast Grey Elite ezScreen (believe the gain is around .9-1.0).

I'm looking into getting a High Power Da-Lite screen (2.8 Gain) and have the proper table mounted setup so I'd get a good amount of the gain back to me.

I got the Z5 and use it for PS3 and XBOX 360 and I'm really happy with it. Great PJ -
super sharp.

kdavis- what size screen are you using? sometimes it's easier just to zoom back the screen size a little to get the extra light for gaming than messing with the expense of a whole new screen especially when that screen might mess up your movie watching experience?

gbrnole, I'm using a 106" screen. I hadn't thought about zooming the screen size back. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give that a shot.
