Any word on if/when it's due for release on HDDVD? According to IMDB it's a Universal picture, and it's probably my favorite Western...

I would love to get all of the spaghetti westerns from him. I would be driving my wife nuts with the sound track from the G-B-U.

High Plains would be a welcome title...but The Outlaw Josey Wales is one of my all time favorite movies, that would be a HUGE movie for me! C'mon Warner, pleeeeeease!!!!!

I just love in The outlaw JW when he spits on the mans head and the dog. And when he tells the kid, something to the effect of the " the worms have to eat to". I reckon so.

I could also go for Pale Rider.

There was a recent rerelease of this on SD-DVD, along with JOE KIDD and TWO MULES FOR SISTER SARA. They were all given single-layer treatment. Not terrible, but too much compression for really good results.

This suggests the studio is not going to give much attention to this title.

Wasn't Two Mules for Sister Sara only a re-issue in a different cover? Or maybe I'm mistaking that with some John Wayne movies.

I prefer both Outlaw Josey Wales and Pale Rider to High Plains Drifter, but I'd buy all 3 of them on HD DVD.

I love HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER, it is a very twisted film. I'd buy it and Eastwood's PLAY MISTTY FOR ME on HD DVD.

One of the best. I just found these other two that cracked me up.

Lone Watie: I didn't surrender, but they took my horse and made him surrender. They have him pulling a wagon up in Kansas I bet.
-------
Senator: There's a saying, Fletcher: To the victor belongs the spoils.
Fletcher: There's another saying, Senator: Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.

I would certainly pick up any of Eastwood's westerns. I for one cannot wait for Warner to release the whole Man With No Name series on HD DVD. Can you imagine these with a great 4k restoration and True HD soundtracks WOW.

MGM holds the rights, so if these are released, it's on Blu-ray only, through Fox.

Are you sure Those might have been in the sale way back when of their library to Warner.

Edit turns out they were United Artists movies and rights were retained by MGM.

Are you sure about the rights to this, IMDB has Warner as releasing some VHS' of the good the bad and the ugly. Not saying youre not right just would like to know were you found this. Either way if it's Blu only then that is what I will have to get.

Warner has been known to successfully borrow copies rights all of the time (Dr. Strangelove comes to mind) but search through its history you find its a U/A title which were not included for the most part in the rights sell in the 80's and IMDB has its rights being MGM and the DVD releases I could find where pretty much all MGM as well.
